Extra Easy vs Green and Red days

I have done slimming world successfully between my two kids and found it very easy to follow and its time to do it again. (it cant be baby weight now as my second child is 4!!) I only ever did red and green days before and now all I can read about in the magazine is extra easy and I don't really know how this works ...I know the red and green allowances and free foods off by heart. Is it easy to follow and do I have to do extra easy?

I have to admit to struggle with losing weight on extra easy, cant do green days as there are far too many carbs so tend to still do red days. You cant find the information easily for this which is annoying especially if you are going to class or online - after all you are paying for their support. Thinking of writing to slimming world to complain about this.

That's interesting. I first did slimming world over 10 years ago so still have all my recipe books but I believe the bible has changed too now? I have to admit I prefer red days with the occasional bean chilli or puy lentil dish thrown in for good measure, that way the weight flies off but each time I try to do extra easy the carb/meat combo just does not work. All the magazine talks about is extra easy and it drives me mad ...where are the free on red and green ready meals, I know they are out there but I just don't want rice/pasta or spuds with every meal.

I disagree. You get a book in your starter pack which fully details the red and green plans. The pages in the extra easy book are coloured red and green for each plan's free food. The website and books also give syn values for all free plans.

In response to OP, extra easy will initally go against everything you associate with SW, but it does work and once you get to grips with it, it is easy! If you look in the stickies section there's loads of threads explaining it, but in short -
Everything free on red and green is free
You can have 1 healthy extra a and 1 healthy extra b (cereals and breads)
If something is synned, use the lowest of the red and green syn values
It is recommended one third of your meals are made up of fruit or veg which would be free on either day (super free) to limit portion sizes

I am trying to join a class locally so I might see how that goes and get them to explain (again!!) I have only attempted online before and I know I have had better success with classes. I will have another read of my books tonight.

I do a mixture of all three plans - but the vast majority (probably 80%) of the time I follow EE.

Today, for instance, I fancied some cheese so I'm doing Green so that I can have the extra HEXA. Of course, I could have just synned some cheese, but I had already planned to use my syns for dinner.

I love the flexibility of the three plans but EE is the one I use the most as it makes everyday life so much easier. If I didn't mention it people would have no idea I was "on a diet".

Sounds like it might be a good idea for you to get back to a group for a couple of weeks and get the Consultant to explain everything so you can the go it alone with more confidence.

I'm exactly the same - cant seem to lose any weight when trying to do the extra easy - but then again its my own fault as I dont eat vegetables lol!! As long as your plate is 1/3 of super free food along with your meat and your carbs then your all good, it can be a side salad or fruit for desert if thats easier?

Good luck!!! xxx

Yes I know - I have the books and go to a class but red is very rarely mentioned - its all about ee. You could also find a weeks sample menu for red days on the web site which are no longer there but they are there for ee and green! So I DO have cause for complaint. I dont get the help I should get by doing red and I pay the same as everyone else.

You can lose on EE days, but, I've always done red and green as that's the plan I am most used to and I like having my 2 a and b choices.

I used to do Red & green days as i first started SW 14years. At the time i found it brilliant and it did the job, but thinking about it, for me personally it was quite restrictive.
When EE was announced i was very skeptical but I will never look back. EE fits in perfect with our family life and being able to eat normal delicous yet healthy meals is perfect.x

OK ...I am convinced. I will give it a go ....starting class next Monday so will have a full update on EE there. Looking forward to it.

I can imagine this must be frustrating, but your first port of call is your consultant, that's what they are there for. Have you asked them with support on the Red plan? You can usually contact them by email or phone if you don't want to bring it up in group (however, it might make a good group discussion). The other thing I would suggest you do is begin following some of the members diaries here who do the red plan so you can see what they are eating to help give you some ideas. HTH

hi, i follow extra easy i just cant get my head round red and green days no matter how hard i try! i wondered if the red and green are better for weight loss?
