Extra Easy Help...failure and in the gutter

I signed up to slimming world 4 weeks ago. First week lost 5lb, second week lost 0.5lb and third week booked holiday. I have failed at diets for years, I hate being overweight and feel like a weak embarrassing person for it. I just can't stop drinking wine and eating junk food. Somehow feel like I deserve it when I get in from work. Kicking myself. Anyone feel the same?

We all feel like that sometimes; we binge then seriously regret it.
Firstly try to plan what you are eating through the day including snacks so there's less chance of you wanting to grab the junk food when you get home - I don't always have time for lunch while working so would get home and grab the junk. Now I don't buy it and plan ahead so I have lots of stuff to eat with me during the day and if I do have a busy day when I get home there is on-plan food easily available.
Secondly try not to beat yourself up about it if you do slip. We're only human and the important thing is to keep trying and not just think I've blown it I might as well give up (again, I've been there!)
Lastly come on here for ideas, support and motivation; it's really helped me having this forum this time around.

Instead of grabbing junk why not make sure u have things like chicken strips and ham. If im planning to have tea later due to hubby working i make sure i have ham or chicken tikka strips as theyre quick, filling and free! Ive seen myself go through half a pack of ham between lunch and tea - literally eat it out the packet while still in the fridge lol
or pre boiled eggs? Keep them in the fridge still in their shell till ready to eat.

theres lots u can plan... but u just have to think ahead.

ive read some people make 'treat' bags of chocolate. They weigh chocolate up into little bags of maybe 6 syns.

u could also eat hexs, superfree and free during the day then save ur syns for a glass of wine and a treat bag?

My view on sw is i can have what i want just in smaller quantities... which means i enjoy it more and make it last longer.

i hope u find a solution and manage to stick with it :) good luck!

You lost five and a half pounds in two weeks. Just exactly why are you calling this "failing". Don't be so hard on yourself. Most people would think that was a success!!

:thinking2:Yep! Rewind to me just over a year ago. Stressful day at work...have a drink. Drink, leads to eating. It's a vicious circle. For this to work for me the drinking had to stop. I hardly ever drink now as I know it leads to a 'fridge raid' and I would rather use the syns elsewhere. My advice to you is try a month off the booze, use the syns to treat yourself elsewhere, see the weightloss and see how much better you will feel. 5.5lbs in 2 weeks is very good. You must stop beating yourself up about this, try to draw a line under the failed diets of the past and start as you mean to go on with a fresh and positive outlook. Good luck. :D

Hi well done on the loss so far. My downfall is sweets and chocolate so I decided to cut out totally for a month to re educate my brain into realising they are treats not a food group. I'm in week 4 and quite honestly I havent missed them or craved them so when my 4 weeks are up I'm not reintroducing them...I did the same with smoking 3 yrs ago and never went back. You will get there hun have faith in yourself eat good food and with each loss great or small your a step nearer to a slimmer YOU and you deserve that xxx

Thanks so much for the support. Really needed it. I forgot to add that since my week off class last week I have put all the weight I lost back on. Anyway, going to force myself to go to class tomorrow even if it is to record a gain of massive proportions! If I don't go then on my head I will subconsciously be thinking "oooh I have got a couple of days off the diet". I am going to try and stay away from the booze for a while. Think thats a very good suggestion. Thanks people. Don't feel like the odd one out now. Xxx

This about calling treats a food group is the best thing I've ever read. It's so true.

Dont worry about having a gain showing in your book. I had a massive blowout the other week and gained 5lbs, over one week. I felt so silly but hey - life happens and i ate and drank my way into that gain.

I stuck on plan and lost 6lb this week.

Moral - you can make the changes that will get the weight off.

I think cut down your alcohol if you drink and then snack after, if you cut it out totally you may end up having a binge because you are missing it so much.

Good luck x

What about swapping to a different booze? I'm switching to gin and bitter lemon. It still feels like a drink but I put lots of ice/bitter lemon in and then it's a lovely long drink and therefore slower.

My chocolate niceness are cadburys fudges (5.5 syns) and cadburys fingers (1.5 each). I also have an options hot choc most nights to use up my hexa.

Otherwise I feel for you. I put on 4lbs Monday after two weekends of eating and drinking what I liked. So now I'm back on plan I don't want to slip backwards.

Annafaraday, that is one of the most beautiful things I have heard said for a long time xxx

So...been to class and I had lost 1.5lbs. Not sure how as my ass is defo larger. Anyway, so pleased I decided to go. Thanks so much for the kind words from everyone.
