Anyone had an unsupportive consultant?

I've yet to find one that has time to help everyone

But minimins is ace for extra support :)

I've been to many many groups, amd the consultants do vary. Only one though, IHO has been really useless. I had joined and bought a countdown and disappeared into hospital with an emergency appendix situation.

Most consultants send out supportive texts mid week, especially to new members. This one didn't even enquire as to how I was doing or where I had gone, she also failed to include me in the body image session. In the group on my second night I had the delightful experience of sitting by someone who ignored me even though I said hello and tried to be friendly. This person then talked over me to another couple of people sitting the other side of me.

That was, as I said, the worst group I've ever been to. Thank goodness this seems to be pretty rare.

I joined one group which I only actually stayed at for a couple of months. Like WasMicci, she didn't contact me first week and kept forgetting to mention me in image therapy because she couldn't remember my name. I also tried to call her a couple of times for help and left messages but she didn't call me back. The only time I got a card sent was about 5 months after I stopped going to say she "missed me"..

I must say that is the only bad experience I've had. I've been to a few other different groups and the consultants were lovely.

Good job I found this thread as I was going to create one...

Basically mine is quite intimidating she forgot my name last week said "oh she's left" Urm no HELLO IM HERE!!!

I also lost 1lb and she said "was you expecting this? You must be consuming around 20/50 syns a day to only get that... Urm excuse me I count EVERY syn and I consume around 6/12 a day... It made me feel like **** she expects you to lose around 3-5lbs a week apparently it's all down to you on what you put in your mouth! I am 110% slimming world good and I have lost 15lbs in 6 weeks! I am thinking of giving this one one last chance next week and then leaving to a new group closer to home and also at an earlier time... Mind you I am tempted to just do that next week anyway... As she makes me feel like ****! I pay her to be supportive towards my losses I didn't even get a "clap" well done for your loss...

It is a shame as I like the people in my group but I'm sorry you can't talk down to me like this I had a loss not a gain! X

OMG Sammie - SO rude! You can be super 110% on Sw and get a 1lb loss, thats a good loss, surely your C knows that! outrageous!

Keep going, 15lb in 6 weeks is incredible chick! Dont let her spoil your good work, maybe try the new group as she doesnt sound like a person id want to be paying each week! xx

I would definitely switch to another group, she sounds like a right cow. Even if you had gained, she should be more supportive and be trying to give you pointers on how to improve, but a loss is a loss and it sounds like you've done great so far with very little help...

I would report her to head office. She should not be putting you down for loseing! It is supposed to be a supportive enviroment not intimidating!

I started SW a few tears ago with my ex as he wanted to lose weight as well. The consultant at that group was awful, quite rude if you weren't in her 'favourites' clique and useless when it came to motivating people or updating you on syns/HE info. It got to the point that I didn't want to go and I certainly didn't want to stay for the whole thing so I used to just go and weigh and then leave again. She was just always really negative and sarcastic towards me, even if I'd done really well. Being a man, my ex usually lost more than me each week and she always used to make spiteful comments about me clearly needing to try as hard as he was, when I'd been 100% on plan and he'd been cheating! Not to mention men usually lose faster and he had far more to lose than me! I went on my own one week as he was working away and she was just so horrid that I weighed and left, and only just made it out of the function room door in the leisure centre before dissolving into tears... Why on earth would anyone pay to be treated like that?!

When I split with my ex and moved I changed group which was ok, but the consultant left after my 2nd week. The new consultant was ok and he was certainly more encouraging than the other 2 but still didn't feel I was getting all that much support or benefit from going so I left. It was literally a case of weighing and then him going round everyone to say how much they had lost, and that was pretty much it. But at least he was pleasant and polite!

I'm now doing online and have to say, I don't feel as though I am missing out by not going to a physical meeting. I can get all the updates and info online and support on here!

I know a lot of people here have very good things to say about their groups, but I have joined and rejoined so many SW groups over the years, and all of them have been quite boring. I think the whole Image Therapy thing, of going round the group, and discussing everyone's personal journey is very tedious. Maybe it's me who has the problem, but now I'm at target, I'm happy to get weighed and go once a month.

That is so refreshing to hear, I thought I was an oddball. I hate the sessions tried them a few times previously and they make me feel so uncomfortable, the whole sitting in a ring thing talking through your gains or losses. It never inspired me just made me feel like 'run' - just goes to show we are all individual and some people need less in your face support and others need that arena. Doing mine at home now and 14 weeks still on course longest I have ever done.

I know one of our local consultants is more of a sales person she passes round Avon and anything else she can think of to drive more pennies out of people.

I highlighted this because this is not what SW - or the NHS - recommends! A healthy weight-loss is at 1-2lbs a week which you managed. If you lose quicker than this, you are possibly not giving your body what it needs and run the risk of losing muscle not fat. Obviously, it doesn't matter if you lose more than a couple of pounds occasionally - it's the overall trend which counts.

I would change my consultant for this reason alone - let alone all the other reasons (rudeness etc.)
