Time to accept and start

Since I was 16 I have been on and off dieting going to slimming world, weight watchers doing the cabbage soup diet and many others! But now it's time to start again now being 24 years old and weighing nearly 18 stone :/

Joined slimming world this week and am very excited for my new start and new me!

But do any of you restarters ever have your failures put on you from the start? I know people have said oh well you failed before! But whatever I'm doing it for me !!

Well done you for starting, no wonder you're excited. There will always be negative people who almost will you to fail - ignore them. Mostly they are well meaning enough , but have no concept of how to support people who have to lose weight. I have allowed people to derail me before - I will accept this no more. As you say the only person we can do this for is ourselves, no-one has said anything to me this time - though I was quite strict with a friend who I knew would have many reasons why I should not do this - mainly I think because I do not drink as often with her if I am losing weight, and also because she feels guilty that she is nor=t dealing with her own weight issues! She knows I will be very angry with her if she says anything. It has been a week now and she still hasn't said anything (neither negative nor positive).

I lost 5 stone from being 18 stone 6 years ago, it was hard work but once you get started then its ok. I put all the weight back on after having a baby and started again at xmas and have lost a stone on the slimfast. I think you'll have a support group and once you get going you'll do well. Believe in yourself and just stick with it for yourself.

Thank you ladies for the support really means alot! So glad I found this forum! It's so amazing seeing everyone's journey and weight loss

I am the Queen of the Restarters. I reckon I have restarted about 12 times a year for the past 3 years :O

So here I am 19 stone 11 but happy to get on with it. I was 20 stone 7 a couple of weeks ago, just cut some junk out and now I'm getting on with a VLCD for a couple of months. Sometimes I think people can't get on with dieting because their head isn't motivated properly. Even though you are dying to lose weight you still just can't get going.

My other half told me last week that when I get to 11 stone he will propose. Ha, he won't know what's hit him. That motivated me beyond belief.

I am another re-starter, I lost 6 st in 2010 and here I am in 2013 with 5st to lose again. It kills me to read how well i did and the struggle to get the 6st off, why did I let it creep back on?????????

Well woulda shoula coulda here I am to do it again, I can do it as I did it before and minimins was my life saver so I am back to daily blogging and I am here with you all xx

Yes you CAN do it again. This is a brand new journey so don't think about the 5 stone coming BACK on. It is a different 5 stone and you ARE going to send them packing just like you did the last lot! You look great in all of your photos. Love the cowboy boots!

Ahhhhhh thank you, I want to lose it again and that's half the issue. So no excuses as my head is in the right space

I used to write pro's and con's list on why I should do the diet, like how being over weight makes me feel and why did I start the diet in the first place. Things went wrong when I stopped doing this, writing my thoughts in a blog helps, so hang in there its hard but we are all doing this for a good reason :D

I'm a restarted, I lost 2.5 stone on the GI diet and I have put it all back on then some. I am now about 14 stone so have 3.5 to lose. Started ww about 4-5 weeks ago lost 6lbs then ate for a week and put it back on.
Started afresh yesterday, new month, new start and I did well :)

good luck!!! i know how hard it is after pretty much being on a diet since i was 14, and maybe losing about 4lbs in the last 11 years!! oops!! its now or never for me! gotta kick a habit of a lifetime!
