Hi all,

Sorry to be a bother but I literally have just ate a bag of 42g minstrels and now my boyfriend asks if we want to make smoothies! I know they are synned but does anyone know a syn free or low syn smoothie?!

You could make low syn smoothies, as you could use low fat or fat free natural greek yogurt which works well. However, as you would be blending fruit you will need to count it as syns. My friend used to make smoothies on SW and our consultant told her to make sure she was counting the syns, which she wasn't, yet she lost 5.5lbs that week.

I use fat free greek yogurt and blend fruit in .... I thought that would be free ???

No it isn't. If you cook or blend fruit, you have to syn it. It's due to how it affects your metabolism and appetite later in the day. Even though fruit is superfree, and you can eat as much as you want, apparently it doesn't apply here.

For example, if I gave you 5 bananas and told you to eat them one after another, you probably wouldn't be able to, as you would be full. But if I gave you 5 bananas and told you to make them into a smoothie, you could eat the 5 bananas. So it all comes down to how it affects your appetite later in the day, also how you may tend to 'overeat' later.

To be honest love, I didn't understand it at first, (still don't really understand it now!) but, that is the reason my SW consultant gave us when we enquired about it in group. But like I said, my friend lost 5.5lbs doing it that week, but doesn't mean next week it would be the same.
