Tinned fruit.

How bad is tinned fruit in juice? I know it's synned but I don't really get why it's so expensive to keep buying lots of different fresh fruit and would be much easier to buy tinned, but don't want to waste syns

Frozen fruit is syn free and not expensive. Also, dont know if you can, but I find local fruit/veg shops so much cheaper than a supermarket - I can get 2 punnets of raspberries for a quid at the minute whereas Tesco is 1 for £2!!

Tinned is synned because the canning process "cooks" the fruit and does something to the sugar content I think

I find it v. expensive too. I do look around for bargains. I went shopping on Saturday, and I know that tomorrow, i'll have to go and buy some more fruit... also you really can't stock up on strawbs and raspberries, because they don't last!!

But, I shouldn't complain because I am loving all this fresh food! lol And the sun is shining so it really does make you think that summer could be here!! Hoorah!!

Thanx that makes sense about the canning/cooking process. I'm so lazy just order everything from tesco really should shop around.
Anyone know what links fruit is like as I keep meaning to try my local one.
Also what fruit do u eat as I need some more variety

I always buy a pineapple and a melon from Tesco (usually on some sort of special deal). Then I chop it up in to a large lidded plastic container and add kiwi, orange, apple whatever I've got in. Its great to keep in the fridge to just dive in to especially with a dollop of natural yoghurt on (with a bit of Splenda mixed in to sweeten)

Today, in work with me, i have strawbs, black and green grapes and some blueberries. Had a banana for breakfast. At home i have a melon and pineapple, kiwi, plums and I bought some passionfruit - which is just fab over a meringue nest, a Muller Vanilla Yogurt and some pineapple... etc... !

Its difficult to know what to buy because there is so much selection at the moment.

And the other day I had apricots, which i've never bought before, and they were lush!!

I love strawberries, melon, pineapple, banana, grapes - oh the list goes on.

Raspberries with mini meringues and low fat squirty cream - delish! x

Where did you buy your passionfruit from please? Can't find any in my usual places and I got told it was out of season...I'd only recently started using it and got hooked!!! xx

I get it in Tescos as my son likes it - pack of 3 for £1.50

Its one of the few fruits that I dislike!!

I love peaches, pears, apples, pineapples, watermelons. melons, grapes, strawberries, all berries in whole (rasberry, blueberry etc), bananas, avocado is also a fruit;-)
