1 meal a week, is this OK

Hello

This is my 5th week (1st 4 on CD), 1st week on Exante - which I really enjoying BTW.

I'm doing this with my partner and daughter which is lovely and really keeping us all on track. Last saturday we introduced a 1 meal a week policy to try and keep us sane (and OH really misses cooking & shopping, yes really!).

We choose a high-protein and greens so keeping happy ketones. But have noticed this evening, just a couple of hours after our lovely mock duck stir-fry that we are hungry.

We are still losing an average of 4lbs (OH 5lbs) a weeks. Does anyone else do this? Are we messing with our metabolisms in a negative way? Or is it better to do 4 weeks then have a food week?

Sorry for all the questions. Would love to hear if anyone does it differently and it still works.

I do liek you and have maybe 1-2 meals a week, I really enjoy having some food, and find I'm a lot less scared of it than when I did LL and stayed completely away from food. It also helps to keep me on track. If you're still achieving the 4lbs a week loss, then it seems to be working for you, which is great. I'm not sure about the hunger straight after... maybe it's where you've eaten something your body thinks ooooh, maybe there's a chance of more!

I don't know what it does to the metabolism.

what did you have for dinner?

Thanks Cybill

Wow, you have done so well. I'll happily follow your example.

You could be right about the body trying to tell us something:)

Cheers

Hi Pizzle

We had mock duck stir fried with broccoli, mushrooms, asparagus and chinese spices. Mock duck is a gluten by product with a similar protein/carb ratio as tofu. As veggies our protein options are pretty limited.

I think this sounds fine; the hunger may be unrelated. if you stick to low carb and this suits you all it should be fine. This is what I do - instead on 'add a meal' for a week - I 'add one meal a week'. This adds variety, some socialising and taste of food. Like you, I stick to low carb - it has not had a negative effect on my weight loss. I have lost three stone in three months. If it works for you all - carry on. Ignore the hunger, just a bit of body protest! Drink water and it will be fine. :)

Adding in a meal is basically a WS day instead of a TS day, no harm in it at all, and to be honest if its going to keep you on the straight and narrow - it has to be good :)

Hi 14stoneto9stoneplease

Chinese tinned mock meats are so much nicer than they sound. I order mine online from Wing Yip in Birmingham as they are so hard to get hold of, though some Holland & Barratts stock them. You can have mock duck, pork, chicken and even abalone.

I like to stir-fry the duck with five spice (freshly made is better as it doesn't contain added salt and sugar). Cook in some of its own juices and simply add the veg you want.

The others are good too and make such a nice change from bland tofu.

Mmmm... I'd better have a soup now.
