    Cambridge V Slimfast

His question is which diet should i do slimfast or cambridge...

He is doubting cambridge only because he loves his milk and i guess food in general and is worried soups and shakes wont fill him, but because we hope to conceive after i have lost quite a bit he wants to help all he can and needs to loose about 5st.
I am getting frustrated as i know he will loose it within 5 months but i can't make him do CD which is understandable so i was thinking of doing this thread so he can read it and he can hear it from professionals and others who can explain the difference between the two and let him make his mind up. Of course i would be 100% behind him whichever he does.

So far i have explained to him that slimfast is quite sugary and cambridge is better 'because it just is' lol, and you cant have milk 'because you just cant' (should i even be doing this diet lol)

can someone explain it better please .....

I do LL, not CD, but they are pretty similar from a SS point of view. I have never been hungry on a VLCD, but on Slimfast I was starving and gave in after 2 weeks. Never had a problem once on LL and been on it 15 weeks now! It'll give him quick results (usually important for men) that'll keep him on board.

Was on CD last year, lost 35lbs. I need to lose another 21 but haven't decided which diet to use yet
I did Slimfast about 2 years ago and lost about 14lbs on it, which was great, but I got really really tired of all the skimmed milk (even though I drink it in tea and have it on cereal ) It sort of made me feel bloated not full if you see what I mean. I also found that I was looking forward to my evening meal too much and having it earlier than usual because I was getting hungry. Having said that, I would use it again as I'm down to my last couple of days supply of CD and need to lose the last of my weight.

CD is, as you know absolutely fandabbidozie! I lost 49lbs last summer and was so amazed at how quickly the weight came off. It is hard if you're SSing, but there are other ways of doing it. Could your hubby do 1000? At least he'd be able to eat a bit then and won't miss out on the feeling of having eaten and chewed food which sems to be what most blokes miss on SS. Could he manage to stick to CD and not eat more than his food allowance? If not, then I'd say choose Slimfast, at least he can maybe eat a WW meal each day and may not feel so deprived of food. :D

Both great diets, but if he's concerned about being hungry, then Cambridge would be the best way to go as it is a ketogenic diet (you go into ketosis which reduces hunger big time)

He could still have milk on Cambridge. The 790 plan would be great for him. Cambridge, milk, food, no hunger, great weightloss. Perfect

Oh, and being a man, the weight will just fall off him.

cambridge is complete meal replacement with reduced carbs so you go into ketosis around day 3 or 4 which stops the physical hunger.

Slimfast is quite high in carbs so you dont get the benefit of ketosis.

As Mrs Depp has already suggested, he doesnt have to do SS (which will give the fastest results) He could do 790 which is 3 shakes plus a small evening meal, or 1000 which I think is two shakes, breakfast, small salad for lunch and then an evening meal.

Good luck with whichever decision he takes xx

I doubt if it'd even take him 5 months on CD Louisa ... men have more muscle mass which is what 'burns' the fuel. He'd probably be done and dusted in 3 months!

I agree re above. They reckon men SS on LL will lose an average of 3 stone in 8 weeks (14 weeks for women, although I lost 4 stone in the 14 weeks), so he should be pretty much there within the first 3 months!

:D My wife and i started on cambridge at the same time, and i lost my weight faster than she did, and in 3 months i lost 43lbs, if he starts he will be on 4 shakes/soups a day, he will feel hungry at first but this will pass by day 4, and all i did was drink water when i felt peckish, I hope he succeeds in whatever diet he chooses, and tell him there are men in this site to chat to even if we are in the minority. :D

Minority maybe .... but what a lovely lot of blokes we have on here!!!!!

Men are also more determined than women when on this diet - maybe it's not having to deal with hormones, not having to shop or cook for the rest of the family, losing weight quicker - or just one of the male/female differences ... but I do find my male clients rarely cheat once they've set their minds to doing it.

Also Louisa you can have a light hearted "see who wins most" competition with him and organise a prize that benefits both of you!! Plus tell him how much morrrrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeee attractive he'll be to you and how much morrrreeeeeeeeeeee energy he'll have - you'll have him on Cambridge quicker than anything!!!!

Nice to meet you Cool - It would be great for you and Louisa to do this journey together - you could keep each other going! Honestly though, it's so great that you are supporting her and I know she would also support you.
My Other Half is really supportive of me and is waiting to see how I do before he takes the plunge and joins me!!!! He's intrigued by the fact that he will lose weight quicker than me! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
At the moment though, he does all he can to help me - hasn't bought me any choccies and he is trying to lose weight himself by eating less and salad every night!
Best of luck - you sound like a wonderful couple to me

I have lost weight more consistently on 790 than I did on SS!!

790 is very effective, you are still in ketosis and the weight just drops off!
