Alcohol?

Just wondering (not planning on a massive binge or anything!)

Does anyone still drink when doing the diet and when is it safe to?
So that it doesn't affect your weight loss too much?

Obviously low drinks like clear spirits.

Can you not drink at all on SS as you won't have any solid food in your body?

I believe it's quite dangerous to drink alcohol when you're in ketosis, but am not sure why. I tried it once, one g&t, and was instantly drunk and sick. Bleurggh - never again, definitely not worth it.

Yeah I did hear it can have really bad effects especially if you aren't eating anything at all.

there's a thread in the stickies - basically it can put you in hospital, so if you must drink you need to re-carb first. it's not so much about he empty stomach/solid food thing, but about what is made available for your brain to use as fuel during ketosis.

I asked my consultant the same question! I was told it has really bad effects you get drunk instantly and can really damage your liver as you do not have a fatty tissue around it to protecty it hope this helps :)

It was more curiosity than anything else, I'm not really a big drinker expect for party's etc so I won't really miss it too much.

Doesn't really seem worth stocking up on carbs for either x

You sound just like me ! I must say it is well worth sticking to. I have been on SS for 5 weeks I dont really miss anything anymore, I haven't cheated once and am loving how my weight is just falling off me

its my first week but I'm on 810, haven't felt tempted once and having to force myself to have meals!

I spend a night out in town completely sober! drinking some yummy soda water..! was still fun though and the boy didnt drink too much either as he didnt want me to feel left out (aww)
In my diets 'break' the first time I went out drinking I got comlpetely wasted and I had no idea why, threw up everything! I had no tolerance for the alcohol in my mind or body. I hadnt thrown up from drinking since I was 16 until then!
Im much more tempted by tasty foods than drinks hehe

I'll be doing that this weekend!
Going out with a friend for cocktails and mine will be a soda water on the rocks ;)

You're very lucky there's no way my O/H would cut down on drinking for me lol
