Im off on my hols early tomorrow morning and have decided to take a box each of alpen lights, fibre plus and pink & whites so that i have good things to snack on :p
My mam and sister ( not on SW plan) are saying im mad for taking them and to forget about the diet while im away.
To me I feel if I make some good choices as well as enjoying eating out and drinking etc i will at least limit my damage;)
Am I silly to try and be semi good while im away?

No im doing the same when i am away. Why undo ALL of your good work when you can limit it and then not feel so bad when you get back?
I think its very sensible and shows great commitment to getting to goal =]

I agree hun, At least you can limit the damage. You should relax on holiday but if you got healthy snacks with you then your in control hun and like the others said shows commitment to SW. x

I think that's sensible. I have a wedding to go to in August and i've just recieved the menu, and I'm going to order what looks to be the lowest syn dishes. While it will probably still be over the days syns, it'll still be better than totally blowing out and feeling guilty about it afterwards, which i know I would.

Excellent first weeks loss crazyarmywife!
Thanks hun. I went away on Friday but took the scales with me as was due to weigh on the saturday but it was so hard to stick to on the weekend. I shared three bottles of wine with my husband over the weekend and picked at bits but been brilliant since monday so now hoping to god i have rectified the damage and at least will stay the same on saturday. Got nothing planned now for the next few months so following SW should be straightforward for me, Hope so anyway lol.

That's not crazy, I think it's a really good idea! It's very easy to get into the habit of 'oh there's nothing healthy to snack on, this is impossible to follow so I'll just eat what I want', especially when you're on holiday and you want to relax. This way you'll have healthy snacks to help keep you on track as much as possible.

I hope you have a great holiday!

Thats which I am doing!! Going to Spain and packing my case with pink and whites and alpen bars as well. I am tempted to put in a few cans of ASDA chickpea dahl in as I am addicted to it at the moment and not sure I can live without it for 11 days!!! hee hee.

people have been saying "oooh Florida - nothing healthy" but ive been a few times before and you can still make good choices - If im having steak i will have baked potato( hold the sour cream) instead of fries.
Also Its at my mam and dads house they have there so i can definately manage i think

I think you're doing the right thing. SW is for life, and that does include holidays!!! yes, you can relax while you're away but I personally think that completely throwing caution to he wind is a total disaster. There are several priciples you can apply and your mum and sis won't even know you're food optimising! For example, not eating the fat on meat, filling up on your 1/3 superfree and making decisions about healthy extras (like only having milk or cheese once a day, or twice for red and green etc), ok so you might not be weighing and measuring, but you will at least be concious of what you're eating. Avoiding highly synned drink like fruit juices and drink loads of water etc...

If anyone says anything you can just reply with 'well my tastes have changes since being on SW' what can they say to that? Good luck, have a fab time Don't stress too much, but do kee your food optimising head on. You want to be able to come back and say 'I had a wonderful time' NOT 'I had a wonderful time, but I gained half a stone :)'.

I think its really sensible. I always do this, and I always bring food with me everywhere, recently I was on a course in a fancy hotel and I brought my own lunch as I knew the lunch provided wouldn't be suitable lol. Its best to be prepared imo!!!

Me too! Wishful thinking, being as I am going to the best place in the world for fry ups. Still, hopefully lots of walking and exercise will stem the damage.

No, it's a totally sane and sensible idea. Really, if you eat trash non-stop for a whole holiday you don't even appreciate it after a bit. And sometimes you end up eating something very calorific just because you're starving and there isn't a healthy choice nearby, so an Alpen light in the bag is very handy for those moments. This way, you can choose the treats that you want to indulge in and really enjoy them. Bon voyage!
