Hi all, ive been following sw for 8 weeks so far managing to lose 31 pounds ( still another 4 stone ish to go before im happy, if I want my bmi to be 'normal' then a few more than that!)
Went to see doc on friday and got champix to hopefully help me to quit the cigs- im so fed up of smoking, dont even enjoy it anymore!
So today is day 3 of champix, am feeling sicky for about an hour in the morning and had some random nightmares last night!
The double dose starts tomorrow and I musy say im looking forward to getting to day 10 which Ive booked as my 'quit day'.
Is there anyone else taking champix or who has succeeded with it?
    Anna :)

Day 4 of champix today, feels so strange still smoking. I took my tablet after breakfast this morning and have not had the sicky feelings :)
Didnt sleep very well again last night but no nightmares, strange dreams though! I woke hubby up in the night saying he needs to remind me to get.... Then went back to sleep lol
Was really hungry yesterday, but think that was being stuck in the house more than anything.

Anyway onwards and upwards 7 days till D day :) ... Unless I really dont want a cig in which case it might be sooner?
Am half way through Allen Carr so hopefully will get a bit more of that read if my little lady has a decent nap today!

    Hi Nannis

You are doing amazing and trust me by week 2 you will start to feel like it can be done. I set a date between week 2 and 3 and i stuck to it.
It's strange but you begin to not even enjoy the ciggys and wonder to yourself why you are even bothering to light up. I stopped taking champix in week 3 as i couldnt cope with the nausea i got from them. Hang in on there hun as you are doing amazing and you will reach that point when you just dont need them any more.

    Good Luck

Well it's day one today!!! To be honest yesterday was a terrible day for me and had decided to wait untill 14 days to quit! ( any excuse!)
Anyway, I read another chapter of Allen Carr last night, have got nothing but a bit of baccy left, no tips ( yuck!) so I thought no im going to do it!
This morning I got up at 6, and jumped straight in the showet, around 6:30 I felt that feeling of hunger for a cig but brushed it off ( was surprised how quickly it went away!) another at 7, then 7:30 etc!!
I an surprised at just how frequently I was actually smoking, and more than a bit embarressed BUT pleased im finally doing something about it!
Im sure there will be lota of entries today as it helps to sit and write as keeps my fingera busy! Ive got an empty nicotine inhaler that im chewing on as well!
Plus gum ( but I know that has syns in so need to watch that one!)

All in all im feeling rather good today, feeling confident and determind... Good start, one day or even hour at a time!!

Thanks dee for reading and showing me encouragement xx

Day one is nearly done, it was surprisingly easier than I had anticipated, but think I had overthought about it iykwim?!

Anyway had a few cravings but the champix made them so much easier to get rid of. Must admit ive had the empty nrt inhaler in my mouth most of the evening!
Looking forward to tomorrow, adding another fiver to my jar and ticking off another day on my journey. On the nhs leaflets I got it says day 3 can come hard so will prepare myself for a rough one just in case!

Thanks for reading and supporting me

Day two :) its only early still but cannot believe im saying day two :)

Things ive noticed already: I spent lot more time than I thought smoking during the day! I was ready earlier today and yesterday, had spare time during the day!! I always moan that I dont even get a minute to think during the day with my 7 month old but just realised yesterday that actually going outside for a cig every half hour (approx)?was like having to babies to cope with, and I so enjoyed not wasting time quick puffing in the garden and spending more time with my lil lady :)
I seemed so less stressed when hubby got home, I was not expecting that, nor was he lol maybe allen carr is right, no point moaping around, be happy ive just ridded my body from an evil monster!

Thanks Gemma, I really am feeling good atm, sure there will be low days but, as allen carr says "you will still have bad days whether you are a smoker or non smoker" .
Ive heard that day 3 is a hard one, but im ready for it!

Have had so much more energy today its unbelievable! Am coughing up ( tmi) so nasty stuff from my poor lungs, that is just making me more determind though :)

Half way through day 3, ive not had as many urges today but have had one big one earlier- I prepared lunch for my daughter and put some rice on for me, lil lady was asleep and I stood in the kitchen and went to my handbag, it was an automatic thing and when I got there I just grabbed a piece of gum out. Then that hungry feeling came, not for food though!
It lasted about ten mins, I sat and looked though the syn directory and had a cupnof coffee and before I knew it, it was allnover and done with :)
Feeling so positive, excited even! My neighbour was chatting at the door yesterday and asked me for a light, it was such a great feeling saying sorry I havent, I dont smokr anymore!!! :)

Day 4: today has probably been the most difficult so far, im guessing thats my fault for deciding to stay home and chill today lol
Have had a few pangs, but dealt with them well- im so tired today but thats "fridays onnits way but not here yet syndrome" lol
Feeling fine now, around this time I feel like yay ive done another day :) xx

Cannot believe Im on day 5 today!!! Had a bit of a moany morning as was gutted that I lost just 1lb this week. Despite being good, but not going to dwell as a loss is a loss and even if I only continue at 1 lb a week while giving up the evil sticks i'll be satisfied :) had a bad craving after weigh in but it went- was chewing gum at 6am this morn to make it go!

Cravings are getting less and less and thoughts of smoking are disappearing fast :) two more days and ive done my first week.

A question- has anyone else experienced nasty phlem coming up when giving up smoking? Its yucky! But at least my lungs are expelling it and that must be a good thing?

Have to see the nurse today for some chatting and more champix

Day 6: had a few niggles today, hubby and son went fishing so once lil lady went for her nap I decided to spruce upstairs and down, trouble is i have a big association with cigs after ive finished the cleaning, spose like a treat?! Managed to have a piece of gum and forget it fairly quickly though.
My taste is back, omg I really didnt realise how much of a difference it would be! My chinese tasted amazing, as did the vodka ( oppps!!). Breakfast was weird this morning, semi skimmed milk tasted like double cream!!
Im a bit paranoid about getting bad breath so keep mouthwashing and chewing gum! Yet it never seemed to bother me when my breath obviously stank of cigs!
I have defo noticed a bit more hunger, not sure if thats a craving or not, but am being good on my diet and determind to remain good :)
