The chemist I attend dont use the Ketosis Sticks so I bought a pack myself on the net have used them. They werent able to answer this question...

The are showing pinkish which means I am in ketosis (yippeee)....if its not a totally stupid question what does it mean when the colour gets to a really dark purple colour (mine hasnt but when you match the colour on the container there is a much darker sections) Does that mean you are loosing more fat?

I was told that the darker the shade, the more dehydrated you are and you need to drink more water. It does not mean that your burning more fat...... hope this is correct but someone else may post another reply.

That is right, if it is dark pink you are not drinking enough water.....it should go between the 2nd and 3rd pink shades on the ketostix pot.

I would say....just don't get tooooo hung up on the old ketostix !

I never used them at all....and lost over 4 stone !!

you will know if you're losing weight.....check out your clothes, you inch loss etc etc

they can be helpful but are not the be all and end all !!

if the colour is dark and you're drinking 3 to 4 litres of water (which can happen)...it just means you're excreting more ketones.....:)

    hope that helps....

    love

I used them everyday as a gentle morning pick me up as I knew I was doing the diet properly and not eating but liked to see a positive result just to remind myself I couldn't be physically hungry.

If you are drinking well then you are looking for a blush pink but first wee of the morning is usually darker and if you go for a long walk or swim then you usually find they are negative as the ketones have been burnt as opposed to coming out in your wee.

As Debz said don't get too wound up about them as they are merely a sign that you are doing well on the diet and as long as you are drinking water and taking the packs then don't panic if they show negative as you will still be in ketosis.
