Hi all,

well this afternoon I was shopping at the local poundland in Exeter, and as usual, stocking up on handwash, batteries, shower gel, etc, picking up the odd little thing that i fancied (like a tai chi book and dvd set for just £1!) anyway, they had a large section of easter eggs, just the little ones for kids (65g egg).

well - I LOVE easter egg chocolate, a few years ago I put on quite a lot of weight after going mad on them for several weeks (and I mean MAD!) so I thought it may be nice to 'get one in' so I could enjoy a little every now and then, it was a malteasers one, about 174 cals for half an egg, so I thought, 'oh thats ok if I eat half an egg, i can balance that in my day.....'

so fast forward 20 mins, I am in the car, with the egg on the passenger seat, pulling bits off as I am driving (dont try this at home) when I suddenly reaslised I had fiished off the lot! (except the mini malteasers bag) and suddenly started feeling really sick.

so I did what I usually do if I feel sick... ate it away with a few mints and a protein bar meal replacement (chocolate flavoured...) and did feel better.

So i pop t sainsburys, pick up my shopping and a banana to get rid of the last little sick feeling, and some water, and come home.

obviously by the time I get home, I am thinking 'omg, all those calories, plus the orange juice i got too, all that sugar, all empty of any nutrition' blah blah.

it was all i have had aside from cereal this morning, so I can see where I went wrong (should have bought that hot pork sarnie I was trying to be good by avoiding!).

so - rahter than thinking, blow it today, its gone, lets stuff ourself silly and start again tomorrow, i entered in all the calories on my food diary at weight loss resources, then did my usual WII fit routine, added the exercise, cringe as I looked at the calories that it said I had left...

and realiased that I have just under 400 left (with 200 ish from the wii fit included in that), more than enough for dinner tonight, :O) I am just really pleased that when I have a moment now, I just move on and get right back on track, be honest and track it all, and try to improve as I go and try and lessen the naughty days.

I wanted to share as sometimes (and I think most of us have done it at some point) we have had something off plan or 'unhealthy' and decided to blow the day out and then gone on to eat load more calories out of self hatred and self disgust, when in reality, if we actually look at what we have done, although its not 'ideal' its often not as bad as we thought either.

I am so much happier counting calories than I am WW points or SW syns, as this way I can really track what damage my bad days are doing and be realistic about recovering from them, without developing an 'all or nothing' attitude to my diet.

it is quite a relevation and I had to share! :O)

Thanks for this :)
I have been feeling bad all day as a dear friend of mine decided to bake sausage rolls at for everyone at work, and i felt obliged to take one as she stood there staring at me. Been feeling really bad about eating it all day as i have avoided sausage like a plague.
I guess a little never hurts :)
Thanks for putting my mind at ease before bed :)

ar thats sweet thank you.

as long as the bad choices dont take over our days and become the norm, then we are doing well.

its a hard thing dieting, we struggle and struggle to make the good choices day after day, and at weigh in we sigh we didn't lose 'that little extra' more weight, we give ourselves very little credit along the way for all the good choices and decisions we have made. then BANG! as soon as we make one little slip up that is usually less than a 4-500 calories, we start whacking ourself over the head, and stabbing ourselves in the heart, for being 'useless' 'fat' 'weak willed' 'fatso' 'greedy' etc, and it is so self defeating.

when have we ever given an equal passionate response to saving that many calories? Never in my mind.

in fact, when we get our bodies to burn 1750 calories and we lose 1/2 a pound, when we have SAVED 1750 calories, we beat ourselves up for only having lost 1/2 a pound, and it should have been so much more... blah blah blah. then you watch us after a 250cal cake at work, a 200 cal sausage roll or a 350cal easter egg.

whooooaaa! whatch out as the nails come out as we scratch our own eyes out with disgust!

It is so disproportionate. I have decided to not play that game anymore.

I am being kind to myself now, and the odd little extra here and there, yes it all mounts up, and no we shoudld't let it become a habit, but no, no way, should we switch to self destruct mode. This chick is in self nurture and self love mode from now on. :D

OMG it could of been me saying that, I am the same if I've been an angel all week and only a measly 1lb off its where did I go wrong all this hard work and for what. But should I eat chocolate all day I hate myself for being so weak willed and normally the rest of the day is a blow out. I am going to try some self love too. :D
