I thought id paste the menu to see if anyone can work out anything that will be totally safe for me to eat... if not i am going to be a complete diva and sit and drink water all night and just not eat.

Hiya
I had a quick look at the menu and as far as I know having the steak with a salad or veg should be just fine.
Good luck.....you'll be fine!

Couldn't bring myself to look at menu - sorry!!

That said, if it's the Italian in Jesmond I'm thinking of then they're pretty helpful and I'm sure they won't mind knocking you up a plain chicken salad. Give them a quick bell - I'm sure they'll oblige

Hi

I'm going from the list of the ketogenic food that is on the sticky section.

You have a bit of a choice here - you could have the chicken with the house salad, oven roasted salmon with house salad or steak with house salad - ask for no sauces with the meats and no dressings on the salad.

If you were worried about ordering in front of friends/family and making a fuss you could call ahead and place your order and explain to them that you are on a special diet?

I hope you have fun x

I would take a guess that these people either don't care about their weight or are naturally slim. Bit unfair for them to criticise something, which in this circumstance, is very positive. It might be only a night of for them, but its a step back for you and your weightloss. Keep you going and never let them bother you. Enjoy your night out xx

I think just by having the plate in front of you whilst everyone is eating will make them more comfortable - I've experience a few people feeling uncomfortable when they are eating and enjoying their food whilst I'm not eating.

I have similar experiences with regards to people thinking that I will have a night off from Exante. I think a lot of people wouldn't ever consider not eating (even for the small, temporary amount of time that we are) so they find it difficult to understand why we do it. I have one friend who asks me every day if I'm still doing it and then raises their eyebrows and tells me how they could never do what I'm doing. I respect what they are saying, this diet isn't for everybody but it's for me and I'm not doing Exante for anybody else apart from me so I've just decided to shrug it off.

Have fun with your family tonight and I'm sure you have some nice clothes, relax and enjoy xx

Aye, you don't really mind when people say, oh I really couldn't do this diet, how do you manage etc because that is not meant in a forceful nasty way. When people insist you eat things you really don't want to then its not on.

Its basically the same as you saying to them that they must eat the same as you are!!

Saying that it would be rude to turn up with a shake, obviously your not gonna do that, but making a fuss and getting the food YOU want is more than within your rights.

They probably don't realise that once you get into ketosis you aren't hungry... they think that we must be suffering badly. Perhaps its concern, or just simply being judgemental. But one has to do what is right for them. xx

Hannata: - exactly, I think it all comes down to a lack of knowledge, and sometimes a judgemental attitude towards VLCDs.

missjam: - Oh I'm glad you had a nice night and that you got the food that you wanted :D

I agree totally. There's a lot of blame to be put on the media as well... making out that everything like this is starvation/anorexia, when its not.

This diet has guidelines and rules to make sure that its consumers are safe whilst on the plan. Whereas some random person eating nothing is a completely different thing.

It makes me really angry that I feel like I have to hide these things from my work colleagues for fear of judgement. But then they judge me anyway

I completely agree. Judgement for being overweight, judgement for losing weight a certain way. No-one can judge me or be as critical towards me as I am towards myself though. At least we give them something to talk about though :D
