Beckie's Skimming World Diary

    Hello all,


    So my story begins. Basically I am one of those people who always says that they are 'on a diet' and then has treats because I've been 'good' - when in fact I have not actually been good at all. I've had an issue about my weight since I was young, when I was 10 I lost 2 stone and became obsessed with calorie counting (yes, 10 years old, children at primary school could still be cruel...). Even at high school I was once called the 'big one' of the group, at this point I was about 10 stone at the most...

    Anyway I'm babbling, my goal weight is and has always been 8 stone 7. For my height it's healthy and I have a curvy figure so any less I think would not suit me.

    But I really LOVE cheese. Cheese and bread are my downfalls.

    A friend at work recommended slimming world as she said you can actually eat on it. So I headed to my first slimming world session dreading the weigh in, I estimated I would be around 10 and a half, and weighed in at 10st13. I didn't get upset though, I was more shocked as I didn't realise I'd let myself go by nearly 2 stone since university (3 years ago).

    Now I'm determined to do things right and get healthy. I go to the gym around 4 times a week and just need to get my eating right.

    First weigh in on Saturday eek! Any support from anyone would be a great help to me :)

    p.s. The title of the thread is meant to say slimming but my ipad changed it to skimming lol

    TODAYS FOOD


    Breakfast -
    2x chocolate belvita biscuits (got up late oops) - 5 syns total

    Lunch - pilau rice with peppers, mushrooms and onion & 3 small oranges & 1 banana

    Dinner -
    two small oven baked sweet potatoes, 2x plain quorn fillets, mushrooms, leeks and sweetcorn fried in fry light - 1 syn for nandos sauce used in cooking

    Other -
    fruit salad (kiwi, strawberry, grapes, raspberries) and meringue x2 (5 syns for the two meringues)

    Total syns - 11

    Hi Hun, how have you been getting on with your first week? I'm just re starting as I put weight back on, but one thing that really helped me before was planning my meals. Generally I try to roughly plan for the next day, if I plan too far I don't want what it is I've planned. I also try to have lie syn things around that I can eat when I'm hungry.     it's been good thanks, how has yours been? :) I made a food plan but totally did not stick to it, still had healthy meals but next week I may do your idea so I know to have the ingredients in the night before. I'm about to make some carrots sticks and watch a film, makes a difference from the usual popcorn :D thanks I'm hoping for a loss of any sort tomorrow, I'd be happy with about 2lbs :) what day do you weigh in? Xx

    Only just started again on Tuesday but going it alone this time, I moved house and just couldn't find a group that I liked the same. If you like humous you can make a syn free one. Or I make a syn free dip with Greek yoghurt, garlic, mint and a bit of lemon.
    Popcorn isn't as bad as some snacks. Lol. I used to munch on Doritos and haribo.
    Most meals and stuff you can make slimming world versions which is handy xx

    Best of luck on your first weigh in :) I was unsure about the groups at first but luckily when I went there was a few new people like me so it wasn't too daughting. Ooh the humous sounds nice, is that with chickpeas? I've been having mostly jacket potato with low fat cottage cheese for lunch which is syn free :)

    i used to to have a bit of an addiction to crunchy nut and also peanut butter kit kats :cry:

    Yeah made with chickpeas. I often take leftovers from dinner for lunch. Mugshots are quite good, mostly free or a few syns. Variety is the key, keeping it so it's not boring is good :) let me know how you get in xx

    Sounds lovely I'm gonna try make some. I love the cheesy mugshots too :)

    i lost 2lbs which I'm pretty happy with considering I went out last Saturday night and just drank loads and then came home and made potato wedges :D I'm going tonight but going to try to alternate with soft drinks and still to 15syns alcohol


    how are you doing today?

    Well done Hun!! That's really good! I'm rubbish at reining in my drinking when I'm out, once I've had a glass of wine I find I want a bottle lol. I try to top a small glass up with soda and get them to put it in a large glass for me! Lol.
    Just got a new macaroni cheese mug **** to try, hoping that's nice! Make sure you have something sw ready to eat when you get home!
    Gid as a student in Manchester I used to get a cheesy chip naan on the way home, was amazing but no wonder I put so much weight on! Lol

    Thanks :) I'm the same it's going to be my weakness I know it. My craving is strawberry and lime kopperberg but it's 14.5syns a bottle :cry:. My plan for tonight is gin and slimline tonic so I'm gonna get a pint glass and put a shot of gin in and fill it right up :) luckily we're doing pre drinks at my friends and then off to one place so I can mak my own drinks so I'll know how many syns I've had :) I'm going to have a hifi bar when I get in, it's already planned lol salted caramel :)
    i live in manchester and was a student here too and used to LOVE the chip naans! There's a place near canal street that does jalopeno poppers which are basically a big jalepeno covered in cheese and breaded and fried. I feel hungry now lol!

    And I miss Manchester!! Not much planned for tonight, planning burger and chips fake away for dinner then probably just have a night in with the TV and the hubby! How boring are we! Lol.

    Its not boring it sounds like my night tonight haha :D

    had a few more vodkas than expected but it wasn't horrific. I came home and scoffed 2 salted caramel hifi bars :D

    Similar to to last week really, cottage cheese jacket with 2/3 superfree for lunch and lots of fruit. I've cut back in syns this week as I was having 10-15 most days last week, last few days I've only had about 5. How are you getting on? :) xx

    Yeah I'm good thanks chick, I lost 3lb when I weighed Tuesday. But going away Friday until Monday to my sister in laws. Going to cook up a load of snacks, and buy a tray of mullers and that way I can snack healthy and give myself smaller portions of her high syn food. Glad your having a good week Hun. Got plans for the weekend? X

    ooh where are you off to. Your snack plan sounds good, I'm going to go something similar tomorrow as my team are having a buffet at work tomorrow haha so many amazing buffet foods will be tempting but my weigh in is Saturday so I'm determined to be good :cry:. No plans this weekend apart from running the manchester 10k on Sunday arghh x
