Beef mince

I have bought <5% fat/extra lean mince for as long as I can remember but for some reason I picked up <15%!! Is there anything I can do to reduce the fat? I though I could cook it, drain it, cook it drain it til there is minimal/no fat left. Clean the pan/use another and add the onions etc continue with my recipes. Is this even viable or will this not work? I cannot believe I didn't read the packet properly and bought 3 cos they were on offer :( I hate fatty meat and I don't cook separately for the oh and kids so it needs to be used. Thanks in advance :)
 
I bought the wrong mince a couple of weeks ago. ... boiled it in some water then drained and rinsed and it took a load of the fat out :)
