    Hi
Just wondering if anyone can help me. I am currently on the cambridge diet. I have lost quite a lot of weight and I am planning to stay on cd until I get to my target weight. I have lost weight and regained it in the past so I don'twant this to happen again! I have done slimming world in the past an loved the fact that I could eat healthily until I was full and still loose weight so I am planning to stick to the sw plan when I finish on cd. The only problem is that I know that if I am doing the plan at home, by myself with no support and no one to weigh me that I will slowly but surely be back to square 1! But will a slimming world class allow me to join if I am already at my target weight and I don't need to loose any more?? I wil be sticking to the plan from the day I join, but just not sure if I would be allowed to join. I know it says you don't have to pay at target weight but I would not expect not to pay. The weekly cost would be a very small price to pay if it keeps me on the straight and narrow!
Any advice will be greatly received! xxxxx

I think you need to have weight to lose in order to join SW but its not much around 7-10lbs I think, so you would need to join a class when you had that much to lose, that way you have a little while to read all the bumpf and get up to date with any changes :) it may seem a little dear to be doing the 2 but once you are at goal and have maintained correctly classes are free :)

Hmm, maybe I need to have a re-think and maybe join when I have got just over half a stone to loose then. I'm just a bit worried about not being able to loose the last half stone for ages by eating 'real' food, and maybe even putting some on initially! I will have a few weeks to think it over as I still have another 19lb before I am at target. Thanks for all your help xxx

Whether you decided to do the SW plan at target or 7lb before you would still have the same problems with coming back onto food. If you did it with 7lb to go and decided to join a group you would have the support to help you through that last 7lb, especially with adjusting back to real food. If you find it really doesn't work for you you could always go back to your current plan.

Or you could join a SW class when you still have 7-10lb to go. Keep doing CD til you get to target (don't tell your SW consultant) then you'll be ready to do SW as a target member.

I can't agree with you on that, Lope. You have to be honest about what you're eating especially if the whole purpose of joining the group is for support.

Upsydaisy, if you've been on cd for a while then your body will need to adjust when you start back on normal food again. The whole point of SW is to teach people how to eat healthily and not go hungry. If you're doing a meal replacement diet (which is what I assume CD is) then as soon as you start eating normally you are very likely to gain a little weight at first but after a couple of weeks your body seems to adjust and then the weight will start coming off if you're following the SW plan.

One other problem is that the last half a stone is always the hardest to shift so you may be switching plans and not seeing the losses you want to see.

I personally love my food and its taken 20 yrs of bad eating habits to reach the point where I wanted to change that and learn how to eat loads of tasty food and still lose weight - I figured a meal replacement plan was never gonna teach me how to do that so IMO I think that if you're intending to switch plans at some point, then you'd be better off doing it sooner rather than later.

    SW all the way
This is not a good idea for a number of reasons. Its inherently dishonest to the rest of the group. Its a waste of time as you won't find image therapy useful if you aren't following the plan.

Aside from anything else, its likely you would gain a bit once you swapped to SW. Imagine consistently losing each week in your secret CD plan whilst attending group - Get to target - Start SW properly - go to group your first week at target - relatively big gain - likely to be out of target range - have to start paying again - Feel annoyed - never go back-carry on gaining - Back where you started!

If I were you, I'd stop CD now - join SW and get the last 20lbs or so through healthy eating...yes you may gain a small bit initially but at least you know you're not going to have to go through a re-feed at target. And rather than EE - follow the Original/red plan...that would suit if you're coming off CD
