Champagne and LL no no no.......

Hey all...

Just wanted to post a experiance with you all - so hopefully you can avoid what happended to me.

On Thursday I went to see a gig that had been arranged for months and was soooo excited. Anyway my bf and I travelled to london and when we got to the hotel my bf wheels out a bottle of Champagne - to celebrate my new job (had a promo at work) and have before the gig to get us in the mood. Id had my packs and water and thats all and I prob had about 3 small cups.

In the cab on route I was feeling iller and iller - We got to the venue and I ran to the loo and started throwing up and basically it didnt stop all night.

Then my bf dragged me into the midddle of the gig and every minute felt like an hour - flashing lights/ground shaking ppl dancing like mad and all that time i thought I was going to pass out.

Anyway he was having such a good time i tried to hold it together (and the tickets had cost me a fortune!) until about 3 quarters a way through the act (was about hour and half) and then could not hold it anymore. I had to be sick and we are standing in a crowd of hundereds of dance music fans that are going mad.

So much to my embrassment I had to be sick in a empty pint glass!!!!!!!!!! Classy huh!

Nobody saw as my bf hugged me while I was doing it... (itsnt he great!) anyway we left shortly after and the nite oif passion we had planned was spent with the toilet instead! Not good.

So I just wanted to warn you all - Im about 90% sure that if id had a vodka with a pint of soda water that id planned I would have been fine. I have always been a big drinker but champange was the only drink that would get me drunk very quickly and in hindsight.... drinking that was a idiotic idea! I gave my stomach and body the shock of its life!

So guys i think most people are ok with drink on LL- but please think carefully about what your going to drink - if you are going to over festive season - as I would hate for any of your to be ill like I was!

Peanut xxx

were you any good at drinking before LL Peanut? I was exceptional and obviously have retained the knack :D

I guess it's the way I am made but, I am very careful. Friday was an experiment before a 'do' on weds - if I had been affected badly then I would not drink at all but now I know just to watch how much and be a bit more 'adult' about it - I ain't a teen anymore!

Happily pro pointing!

more info on Alcohol and ketosis

No and yes. The liver can make ketones out of alcohol, so technically, when you drink you'll continue to produce ketones and so will remain in ketosis. The problem is ... alcohol converts more easily to ketones than fatty acids, so your liver will use the alchol first, in preference to fat. Thus, when you drink, basically your FAT burning is put on hold until all the alcohol is out of your system.
This rapid breakdown of alcohol into ketones and acetaldehyde (the intoxicating by-product) ... tends to put low carbers at risk for quicker intoxication ... especially if no other food is consumed to slow absorption.
Miss Fenella - good a drinking? doesnt even cover it hun! i was shocking and could drink about a bottle of vodka on a night out (i am NOT proud of that) as i only drank doubles. I also have been on secondment in london the last 6 months and spent most of the week P&ssing it up! thats the other good think about LL - it has got a handle on my social boozing as I was getting out of hand!

So I think if i had had a couple of single vodkas with soda i would have been ok!

I should have done a experiment before like you you Miss F! Thanks for the info.

Im going to have a read now of the link CDC sent over.

Thanks Ali - but im loads better now just a bit weak!
