Hi, I saw your post on the other thread asking to look at your diary, so thought I'd pop by.

I think your food choices are great, very healthy and you are using your HeXs and some syns. I can't really see anything wrong, the only thing is you seen to have a lot of wheat in your diet (bread, noodles, pasta) maybe try mix it up a bit with potatoes and rice, or use beans/chickpeas/lentils as a base for meals. I get bloated when I eat too much weight, so that may be eat, although I think more importantly variation is the key to Any healthy diet. Hope this helps and well done on your weight loss to far!

Thanks for looking and your opinion. Finding this site so useful should have joint ages ago. I was thinking the same thing that it could be the pasta etc. I choose them coz i think it will keep me full but maybe its that thats giving me this uncomfortable bloated feeling. Well weigh in tonight so we will c wot happens maybe time to change things about a bit.

I would love to try grains and lentils but wouldn't have a clue where to start im not the most adventurous cook just tend to stick to basics. Any advice greatly appreciated.

They're Sooooooo easy! Promise!

Ok green lentils (Tesco, about 79p per kilo bag, sometimes called lentil vertes). Take a big handful, put them in cold water. Boil for 10 mins. Drain. Put fresh water in (doesn't matter how much, you just empty it after). I add diced onion and garlic too. Simmer for 10 mins. Chuck in some frozen green beans then cook for 3 mins. Drain. Chuck on some balsamic vinegar or something and it's done! So so easy but goes with loads.

Quinoa (brilliant grain, in the whole food bit at tesco) - measure out a cup full and add two cups of water. Add a veg stock cube. Boil for 12 mins. Water absorbs and it's done!

Bulgar wheat is even easier - pour on hot water and let it absorb!

Good luck! X

Well they do sound easy definitely on the shopping list. Any other ideas are greatfully received i have decided its time for a change before i start getting bored :)

I love lentils! I usually use the red plit lentils as a base for dahls and soups, you cook it almost like a risotto (maybe also a nice thing for you to try) saute some garlic n onions in fry light, add spices to choice (I ususally use cumin and coriander seed), add a cupful of lentils then add 2 cups of stock (veg or chicken or whatever you fancy really) sometimes I add chopped carrots to the lentils before adding the stock, just simmer till they are cooked through, when they are tender and turned into almost a smooth consistency add any other ingresients you fancy like for example spinach and chickpeas to make a chickpea dahl. You can mix it up to by adding one cup of curry stock and a tin of chopped tomatoes and then adding any veg you want. Eat the Dahl with rice or naan (syns though!), you can make a syn free raita to go with this with fat free yogurt, cucumber a little sweetener and a little salt.

If you want it as a soup add lots of root veg to the lentils, then a tin of tomatoes and 3 cups of stock and let it buble away till tender, blitz or leave it chunky. (check the forum for speed soup recipe, its a favourite of mine!)

Enjoy!
