Cruise PV Cheeseburger pie

Vicky kindly adapted this for us from an Atkins recipe:

Cheeseburger Pie
Ingredients:
500g lean minced beef
50g finely chopped onion
150g chopped mushrooms
3 eggs
fat free Fromage frais
low fat grated chedder (7% fat, maximum 30g per portion)

salt & pepper to taste


Fry mince, onion and mushrooms together until cooked season to taste, drain off fat. (I add fresh tomato too, and some herbs and chilli powder...).

Place in a deep pie dish, flatten with spoon.
Beat eggs add fromfrais.
Pour over the top of mince, sprinkle grated cheese over
bake in oven Gas mark 5 for 20 to 25 mins until set and golden brown.
Leave to cool before taking out of pie dish, remove foil.
Cut in to portions
This freezes very well.
Lovely with salad, cauli mash, or stir fry (Great in lunchboxes)
 
Hi, want to try this one, you say "remove foil" when do you cover pie dish, is it before you put in oven? Many thanks.
 
Hello there - actually I copied this recipe from someone but have never put foil on it myself! If you're doing Dukan, careful with the cheese... apparently in England there isn't an appropriate "less than 7%" fat grated cheese so best skip that layer.
 
if we're leaving out the cheese in this doesn't that technically make it a 'burger pie'??? ;)
 
and my cauli mash topped ones are labelled "cauli pie".
 
lol I always put a little grated cheese on its the law ;)
 
Hi, Many thanks, thought foil had to go on to prevent burning on top.
Bought some low fat grated cheese in Asda, but on closer inspection, it says 10% per 100g, so will give it a miss and let my boys have it!

Will have a go at this tomorrow.
 
I bake mine in a loaf tin, so one end has full fat grated cheese on (for the other half) and my end has "my stuff" on... the middle is a grey area ;)

OY Vicky - keep your Atkins fat where we can see it!
