Chilli con Carne

    I've made my own and I've worked it out to 12PP, which seems an awful lot :eek:
    Would somebody mind casting their eye over my recipe and pointing, please?

    500g lean minced beef - 24PP
    two tins of tomatoes with chilli - 0PP
    onion - 0PP
    mushrooms - 0PP
    peppers - 0PP
    spices - 0PP
    oxo beef cubes - 0PP
    400g tin red kidney beans - 11PP (the book says 35g is 1PP so I've worked out the can to 11PP

    This recipe serves 6, so equates to 6PP each

    60g dried rice - 6PP

    Ingredients
    1 pack(s) The Co-Operative Lean Minced Beef, Reduced Fat, frozen 22pp
    2 can(s) Tomatoes, Whole or Chopped, Canned (large) 0pp
    1 medium Onion, All Types 0pp
    1 medium Pepper, All Types 0pp
    1 teaspoons Mixed Spice 0pp
    2 cube(s) Oxo Beef Cubes 0pp
    1 tin(s) Epicure Chilli Beans Red Kidney Beans in Chilli Sauce 10pp
    360g Rice, White, Arborio, Dried 33pp

    so yes, it's a bit high in points... although if instead than having 60g of rice per person you had 50g of rice per person (which is still a nice bowl of rice!) it would cut another point and get to 10, as it would be 28 propoints for 300g of rice. 10 propoints is a good size dinner which can fit easily in your 29 daily allowance!

    I made a chilli tonight too, my chilli was 7 pp and rice was 6pp too - but no way could I eat all the rice (60g), so I'll definitely be using 30 or 40g in future I think - looking at my plate I reckon that's probably what I ate tonight anyway! :)
