You could try getting something cheaper, or second hand - eBay, charity shops, TK Maxx. I just got a lovely silver waterproof jacket with a hood from eBay for less than £15.
Do you need a formal coat - for work, for instance? If not, you could look for something less fitting and structured, so the size wouldn't matter too much. Something like a cape or poncho.
