Hi, I suffer with constipation anyway so on CD its been ten times worse. I took lactulose to clear me out (will knock you out of ketosis as sugar syrup but will work) and then i take psyllium husks in tablet form 3 in morning and 3 at night (holland and barrett sell them) as it is the worse pain imaginable. Drink lots of water if you can, maybe some veg if you are on ss+ may help. Good luck, don't suffer anymore, go and see chemist otherwise. :(

Get some feiyan fei tea (can get it from chinese herbal shops and ebay). have a cup before bed, re-soak the teabag ad have another cup. If that doesnt move things along nothing will.

It is a tea that is designed to help with slimming etc, TBH I think it works by having a laxitive effect.lol! I dont use it but I know people that do, they have normal bowels and end up having diarrhoea in the morning, they go once or twice then thats it for the day. After you have taken it for a while (constatly) this effect goes. But if you suffer with constipation it probs will just make you go as normal and you could use it as you need it.

It doesnt taste nice but im sure it will help. Hope you get sorted soon. x

    Aawwww... pooorr you... sounds sore..

some advice I've come accross includes

-lie in a deep warm bath
    -continue drinking lots of water
    -gently massage your tummy
    -take a vigorous walk
-do all the soothing things that help you feel better at TOTM like hot water bottles..

(some less healthy, but effective advice):
    -strong coffee
-break CD and down some prune juice (not recommended!)
    -go for colonic irrigation
    -10pints of lager and a vindalooo! :/

-you may need to see a pharmacist or GP for either laxatives or stool softeners (either oral or 'per rectum')
-if you are feeling pain, nausea, or have any bleeding, see your GP..

-make sure someone gives you a hug, or hug a teddy, or scrunch up your douvet and hug that :)

I wish I could take the problem away, and I hope it resolves soon for you.. I'm sure there's other advice on this site.. you can always google constipation and see what other people suggest...

Keep us posted on how your doing..

    LOVE :)

    Vx

Did your CDC offer the fibre stuff to put in your shakes, its really helped me.

I know this isnt pleasant but what about a suppository from the chemist, it should work pretty damn quick and then just take the fibre stuff with your shakes from then on.

Have you got a wheat bag you can heat up for your tummy to help for a bit.

You might need to see your gp for some laxalux to help soften whats stuck already to help you pass it.

    Hope your feeling better soon

Hi I take senakot every 2 days to keep me regular as I was in terrible pain like you. Fibregel should only be taken to keep you regular but if you are already constipated it can add to the problem.

As above recomends drink lots of water hun and maybe try a suppositry (spelt wrong I think lol) to get things intially going. See your pharmacist to check what's best though. Hope you feel better soon, big hugs. Zoe xx

    Hi All!

I am on Day 8 and have literally just been talking to my OH about my constipation! Needless to say he wasn't impressed with the conversation topic!

I was up in the night with severe discomfort which has continued today so I have taken an ex-lax this morning and keeping my fingers crossed.

I am already drinking about 4 litres of water every day, so hope it is just a blip (albeit a bloody painful blip!!).

"Enough" - lol at your suggestion of 10 pints and a vindaloo....made me chuckle!

Lollylou....hope you are ok hun and that things get moving soon!!

    Oh the joys of VLCD!!!

    Minx xx

Try adding psyllium husks to your shakes. there is a thread on here about them. I go every 2 days coz I add these to my diet. Dont even need too much. I never use the fiber stuff. Used to have to take ducolax every week but not anymore! Not only will it help with the loo but it fills you up big time

10 days seems very excessive, I would go to the doctor and see what they suggest. Don't just suffer in silence. Hope it sorts itself out for you soon.

Hi I get this dreaded problem always but it is obviously even worse on CD. Bulking agents will just irritate things more if there is a blockage. DO NOT use lactulose as it's so fattening. You would be as well eating the vindaloo! Try the suppository or even better and I don't know how to spell this - an enoma. That will most definitely work!

i have the same problem. never really been bad on this diet, but the last few days have been agony. i was at my friends house last night and had some lactulose, i was desperate. i am hoping not to put on weight from it, but i was in so much pain. doesn't seem to have done much to be honest, had a minor success this morning but my bum area is so so painful today. i am going to have to get something for it, i have some senna at home, is that any good?

I suffer with this as well:mad:

I started using the Dulcolax tablets - and BOY OH BOY - they did the trick - slightly unpredictable tho so you can't stray far from the loo.

I didn't like having to rely on these all the time as they are quite powerful. The siuation improved slightly when i was on SS+ for a week but i now find if i drink at least 4 - 5 litres of water in the day i seem to be able to go myself. I sometimes use a Natural Sennacot tablet and that usually does the trick.

You can get them from the pharmacy they are just glycogen (sp) suppositries about 2.50 for 12 in boots, if the "problem" is really bad you will need stronger ones from gp

i managed to find some Glycerin sypositories in Morrisons!
they were £1.24 for 12! they really work - just not great getting them in, and you really have to make sure you keep it in for 20-30 minutes, but boy, do they work for me!!!

Aw hon, I so sympathise with you. A few weeks ago (luckily on a Saturday) I went into the bathroom to 'go' at 4.30 in the morning and 3 hours later I managed to do the deed. I was in so much pain that I seriously contemplated calling for an ambulance!! I hope that doesnt scare people reading this but it was really really bad. Now I make sure that I am using the fibre, senna - anything I am allowed to take really. That was half the reason why I came off SS with 10lbs to target and decided to go up the plans and be able to eat some salad etc which would make things easier. I am SSing again now and really dread the same thing happening again. Can you imagine if I had been at work? 3 hours away from my desk and stuck in the loo?????? Ooh the shame :eek::eek:
