do potatoes need be fresh for so chips?

Mornin all...tryin plan ahead for tonight. Fancy sw chips and the baked potato I want use have gone a bit, shall we say, soft...and funny colour but seems like waste to chuck out. What do you think?

Hi I assume by now you have made a decision either way about your sad looking potato but just wanted to say I often use not so perfect potatoes for my sw chips and they've always turned out fine! X

Hiya yeah I made them, bit soft as I took them out too soon but still nice. Will make them again with not so perfect potatoes lol

My potatoes are always growing I take too long to use them.. Never done me any harm!
I can't tell when mushrooms are off either so I just use them til they're done. Skimmed milk never seems to go off either ha

My potatoes sit in the house for months! I dont use many I just chop off any sprouting roots/tree-shaped bits and chuck the rest in

i keep my potatoes in the fridge they last for months
