I'm really down in the dumps. Was on CD (once again) back at Easter and doing ok then totally lost the plot. Now I'm debating whether to try again. Or am I just setting myself up for a fall. :sigh:

I feel soooo huge weighed myself this morning and I'm 15st 11 and vowed I'd start CD again tomorrow. I'm so dissapointed in myself last years summer clothes don't fit cos I was about 13st 6 then. I can tell people are looking at me and thinking I'm putting it all back on and they're right. I got down into the 12's from 18st 5 when I did this the first time 2 years ago and vowed never to go back. I know what I need to do I just can't seem to get going. Just feel so useless.

Help me please!!!! Kicks up the bum are welcome.

Hi, sorry to hear your struggling. I can totally understand how you feel as someone who has yo yo'd my entire life. No one can do this for you though, this is something your going to have to focus on and do yourself. CD is most definitely an impossible diet to do if your 100% focussed and committed to sticking to it fully, not to mention the money.

You clearly sound unhappy so why not try a different diet- one that gives you a bit more flexibility? I know you won't get the results as fast but they will be positive results and will stop you giving yourself such a hard time?
There's nothing to say you can't go back to CD when you feel ready for it.

Whatever you decide- be happy with your decision. Xx

Hey I dont normally post but saw this and reminded me of myself did cd about 2.5years ago starting weight 17.13 lost over 8 stone in 8 months and then 5 weeks ago i came back tail between my legs to start again weighing 15st 8lbs, Im already down to 13st 11lbs and it feels so good to be getting back to the old me and the clothes that are in my wardrobe I agree that you have to be 100% focuses to do the diet ive tried to restart a few times the in the last year but you just have to really want it and it can be done. Best of luck with whatever you decide :) xx

Hey - I'm doing it all over again! I don't care what anyone thinks about me or says about me. They are not me and they do not know how I make my decisions. But then I'm a bit of a stubborn cow like that ;)

I think with CD you have to be impossibly selfish and stubborn for it to wok (that's not to say that lovely generous kind people can;t lose weight on it) it's just you really need to put yourself first. One of the biggest lightbulbs I had on Lighter Life was looking round the room and we all realised that we'd all put ourselves at the back of the queue for so long that we'd all got to a weight where we were all so unhappy that we'd consider not eating for 100 days!

But then for any diet to work you have to be selfish - you have to say no to yourself and to other people. So you have to turn that on its head and find out what you really want.

This time round I was genuinely worried, my blood pressure and heart rate had returned to the scary level that had put me on a VLCD in the first place, I'd started looking old and jowly and had mroe chins than ever. I wanted my health and my fitness back. And I've also realised that I can't keep using CD to fix this tendency to bounce around. I am going to come off this properly and get maintenance right - no excuses.

Sorry for the rant, but I refuse to give in...and I refuse to deny myself the chance at getting this right...so if that helps in any way...then - hurray - but I will not kick you in the arse for wanting to try again. I'll give you a huge round of applause and a leg up!

Thanks to you all for your advice. Its certainly helped and I'm going for it 100% tomorrow. I'm not one to feel sorry for myself but I'm just angry I think.

Aw Cerulean I agree I need to put myself first and get a grip. Your last sentance brought a tear to my eye and I'm no soppy cow...So thanks for the leg up I really appreciate it. I'm gonna do this for me and I know in a few weeks I'l be feeling so much better about everything. xxx :)

Good on you, Rachele. You can absolutely do it (you have proof, having done it before!) and deserve the leg up, and to put yourself first. :)
