Extra easy vs Red and Green

#1
Have just restarted SW and it's changed! Think I have my head round Extra Easy but it seems mean to only have one HEA & HEB. How have other members found this. I'm a normal eater and back in the day when I lost a couple of stone on SW I used to eat green in the week and red at the weekends. Which was fab and suited me. My new consultant at group said all new members are asked to start on Extra Easy - why? I'm not sure I like it one bit, although starting again on SW is not easy anyway.

Im not sure about it being mean to only have one hea and heb - instead you can have as much as you need of potatoes with as much as you need of meat on the same day!! I guess tho if you would rather use the hex on bread it is a bit mean.

Pers I prefer the red and green plans. I did sw many moons ago so knew them and trusted them. I am just resistant to change tho and didnt really see the point in learning something new. I guess ee for most people is just like normal everday healthy eating and if you have no previous experience of the older plans would seem more straightforwards.

I think that for people who are entirely new to Slimming World, then Extra Easy is easier to understand than red and green. But you aren't really new, but returning, so if you had a system that suited you before, why not stick to it?

Red and green are still part of the programnme - SW has just brought out a really good new book of red recipes.

I do EE once or twice a week but generally stick to green. I like my coffee & toast in the morning, so thats all my HEXes gone by 9am on EE, and I like some cheese with my lunch a few times a week :( And usually theres enough in a HEXB and a couple of syns to add meat to a Green day if I want to, which is what I usually do.

You could give EE a try, but if you already find Green/Red works for you then stick to it, sod the powers-that-be!

I'm very new to SW, and had to get my head around it all - but I find I'm mixing Green Days & the occasional EE as I eat little meat, and the Mr is a vegetarian. I figure as long as I'm following it properly & it's working, it's all good!

I'm a veggie, so it's green all the way with me, which suits my needs very well. Means I can have extra cheese and nuts as HEB, which are all a part of a balanced healthy vegetarian diet. I don't like the push for extra easy some consultants do - and that SW do. I think different plans suit different people and people do seem to have bodies/lifestyles that lose weight better on different plans and they should have a better system of explaining the planS to people. I always lost better on a carb heavy diet, even back when I ate meat many moons ago. My mate says she gorges too much on EE and has slower losses, whereas another friend lost stones on it. I think SW needs some balance lately

I've only just started, but Extra Easy suits me fine - I'm not a big bread eater, so use my HexB on Alpen light bars. I actually struggle to use my HexA some days, unless I'm cooking something I can top with cheese!

I can't see me changing from Extra Easy, but that's because it suits the way I eat and the food I like. But if Red&Green suits you better, go for it - as the others say, you're not a newbie anyway!

Really? Wow, I always want more healthy extras lol. Usually have cereal or something on toast at brekkie. Then often bread to dip in soup at lunch, or a hifi bar or handful of nuts (only nuts on green). Usually use milk on cereal or cheese on something. If I haven't had any that day, I'll have a glass of milk or make a latte with it

If you are a tried and tested Red & Green Day girl then I would say stick with what you know.

If you came away from SW previously because you were missing normal everyday meals (eg Sunday roast, curry with rice or spag bol) and felt restricted then I would say give EE a go.

Yes you have to drop one of your HEx's but it's no biggy. You can always syn it with the knowledge that you are synning something relatively healthy :)

Good luck!

I love healthy extra's! Theresso many different ones you can have!
Am confused as to what the plan is to do about red and green. I thinnk they have just launched a new original meals cookery book so surely they aren't intending to go completely extra easy? I bet its just consultants choosing to do it that way!
I lost a lot of weight doing green days and then changed to ex easy as thats what suits me!
I think you should do what suits you but that allthe plans are good (not that I can get on very wellwith red for some reason!)

Emsie is right, all of the plans are good - it just depends what suit you.

I do a mixture of all 3 with green being my favourite followed by red and then EE.

I do find that I have slower losses on EE but I doubt that is not down to the plan, more of my tendency to eat too much. You will find people here that have been successful on all of the plans so just see which one suits you best :)

Hi I've recently been in hospital with a bowel obstruction due to old scar tissue/adhesions. As a result my limited intake of fruit and veg has now been cut to almost nothing for a while, basically bananas, mash potatoes or any thing very soft. Any advice on which plan to follow, I was on EE?

Sorry to hear about your op :wave_cry:

Hmm, that's a toughie. Do you favour one over the other? Would you desperately miss rice if you were on Red? Personally too much meat would bung me up so I'd be tempted to go Green for a while.

Do you have to avoid anything else?

Maybe you should take a look at some recipes ...

Actually, what am I saying?? Why not do a mixture of both? There's nothing wrong with that!

Hope you feel better soon x

Thnx Ali, I think green sounds better for me I need to read up on it now as I'm used to EE, I think I I would prefer more carbs, with red days if I fancy more meat. Can I have some meat on green days?

Yes - I think it is easier to add meat to a green day than add pasta/rice/potatoes to a red day :)

Plus you'll get 2 Healthy Extras so you can still have your cereal/bread etc.

Have a sneaky peek at some Green Food diaries ... there are loads of successful Green Day girlies on here!

HTH x
