Hi Nanacath! Thank you for your kind words! :) I would definitely say that 1,600 would be a great starting point when you've got a few stone to lose, I personally wouldn't go any lower at the outset. If you want to do it "scientifically" there are lots of online calculators for working out your BMR and TDEE, but I've always done it by trial and error, as everyone is so different. I started off on around 1,800, but I had at least 10 stone to lose, and currently eat 1,300-1,400 on weekdays - I just wouldn't go any lower than that myself. At the end of the day it is a matter of finding out what works for you, but I would always advocate starting out at a higher level to give plenty of scope for downwards adjustment. As you shrink, the calories you need also reduce (my maintenance level according to MFP is now 1,700), so it's important to be able to decrease them, and if you start too low you can't do that. Hope that helps! :) xx

Thank you lovely :) It's a shame it doesn't all come off (healthily!) as quickly as we put it on isn't it!
