Food Allergy!?

Hi,

I'm currently having loads of tests at the doctors trying to work out what's wrong with me, I've been having lower abdominal pain and back pain for quite a while (a bit of lower but mainly around my shoulders) I had some really bad stabbing pains last week which was what prompted me to call the docs, the stabbing pain lasted for quite a while and was all around the right of my lower abdomen.

Since then I haven't had the pain as bad as that but my pains have been worse then what I had before that happened, especially my back just below my shoulders. The past couple of nights I've had really bad stomach pains as well, it felt like when your so hungry it hurts, but I wasn't hungry.

I had cheese based meals both nights and I'm starting to worry it could be a dairy allergy or lactose intolerance as obviously with my HEA I have dairy every day. I was just wondering if anyone else has a dairy allergy or another food allergy, who could say whether their symptoms are similar to mine or not?

My dad is allergic to beetroot, if he has only a red smartie thats coloured using beetroot extract he will end up with sickness, diarrhoea, rash, itching. And in the worse case he passed out on us. Thats the only experience I have with allergies, everyone gets different symptoms though. Have you tried cutting out dairy, using soya milk or some other alternative for your HEa?

Not tried that yet as it only occurred to me last night that it could be that.

I have a friend who has a dairy allergy, her's isn't a server as your dads but I'm not actually sure on how it effects her exactly.

I think I'm going to leave it, still waiting to have a scan at the hospital, if that doesn't bring anything up then I'll try cutting out dairy. I'm going to pizza hut tomorrow and still having philli as me HEA as well, so I suppose I'll really see if its that tomorrow because I'll be overloaded with the stuff

it could be lactose intolerance rather than an allergy. what you need to request is a hydrogen breath test. this is where they make you drink a pint of milk, wait a while then give you a breathalazer to see what your H levels are. if they're high, it's LI. most GPS wont do it though as it's a specialist tests that they're advised not to pass out willy nilly.

don't be peturbed by allergy blood tests not showing anything up either. I am proven to have an anaphalactic reaction to wasps, nettles (even in extract form) and codeine... but my allergen blood RAST tests came back negative.

I don't think I'd ever bother going for a proper test for it, I'm allergic to something in hair dye but when I tried to go for the tests they were such a nightmare I decided it was best to just stay away!

If the doctors don't come up with anything in the next few weeks I'll try a dairy free few days, will buy some soya milk for HEA and if I feel better I'll just assume its either lactose intolerance or a dairy allergy. I'm really hoping it isn't either of those as I love my cheese and milk (yeah I know I can get dairy free) but then there's my chocolate for my syns!

dairy free chocolate is getting better depending on the brand, but dairy free cheese should just all be put in a hole and blown up with bombs because it's horrible lol.

Haha fair enough, cheese would have to be a no no then :p

To be fair actually, I've seen you can get quite a few dairy free cakes ect. (I've had to buy them for my friend and a little girl I know as well has an allergy)

Fingers crossed though, I'm not suffering as bad today, I'm green today and already had half of my milk and some cheese on a lasagne, but my stomach pains are more like cramps at the moment, have my back pain still. Hopefully it's a sign that its not lactose intolerance or an allergy as surely I'd be worse with me having milk throughout the day plus cheese in my evening meal!

It's just hard at the moment not trying to diagnose myself, I hope they hurry up and find out what is causing it, then I can stop my guess work
