    Hi there

Does anyone have recipes for free soup in stead of just veg ones I am doing easy extra and as it is piddling down every day and feels like winter  I fancy soup but fed up with carrot and corriander or cream of potatoe and broccoli. I saw someone suggest chicken noodle but need to find out what noodles are free.

Thanks in advance for your replies

Rice noodles and wheat noodles are free - if you use chicken as a hexb, sliced mushrooms, water chestnuts, stock, fish sauce, bashed lemon grass (mange tout, broccoli, bean sprouts....whatever you fancy) garlic and sliced chilli you end up with a lovely broth - you could use prawns rather than chicken - add loads of noodles and its a wagamama's style dish!

Rice noodles like you get at the fresh section in asda? are these free on a green day I am understanding! Im on Easy extra so the chicken would be free then and the noodles would be free. Is that correct ?

ooh i don't know - i always use the dried ones. And yes it would be free on EE so long as at least a 3rd is food that is free on both green and red days (ie bulk it up with the veg!) :)

Hopefully i'll find the correct recipe on here and follow that I have left a diary but no one seems to want to advise or comment but i'll keep going. I really want to do this. So i will stay positive.

This is one I haven't tried but will when it gets colder....

½ sweet potato, peeled and cubed
    1 lime, cut in half
    1 clove garlic
½ pint chicken or vegetable stock
    1 tbsp honey (2.5 syns)
    Preparation method
Frylight the potato, lime and the garlic. Cook for three minutes.
Add the chicken or vegetable stock and honey. Cook for ten minutes. Remove the lime and discard. Blend until smooth.

Don't think you would have to syn the lime as you wouldn't eat it..... let me know if you try this - sounds nice though!

Are you going to a group? If you are (or have joined on line) you can check the syns/free food there. There is a Thai soup recipe on there too.

I haven't ever done extra easy so I wouldn't be the best person to advise you but I would be happy to have a look if you want.

Also - this makes an amazing rich tomato soup, you could add bacon for free or maybe syn a bit of chorizo into it?

Tomato soup with gremolata recipe - Recipes - BBC Good Food

Make it sw friendly by replacing the oil with fry light and the sugar with sweetener (I leave out the gremolata on sw)

I just made a quick thick tomato one just now, tin of plum tomatoes, teaspoon veg stock, 2 cloves garlic (had thrown the garlic in the steamer with my other veg for lunch) and a 1/2 teaspoon pepper sauce (could use worcester)

Heat, pour into jug, blend, serve.

I made this soup at the weekend and it was absolutely delicious for 2½ syns. I will definitely make it again.

    Thanks for posting it.

Quick soups that I sometimes make:

1 tin chopped tomatoes, 1 tin baked beans. Heat together eat like soup. Made in minutes. Strange sounding but delicious. Add herbs or spices if you like and if you have more time you can add extra veg, or pasta.

Chinese flavour soup......... heat stock made of 1 chinese oxo cube (or 1 veg oxo and a pinch of chinese five spice powder. Add a pack of stir fry veg (fresh or frozen) heat long enough for the veg to warm through and soften slightly. Add soy sauce and eat. Again if you have more time you can add some noodles.

I posted this one a while back as I'm in love with the chicken and sweetcorn soup you get from the Chinese. You could always add some noodles to it if you wanted to, but it's quite filling without :) xx

Chicken and Sweetcorn soup (Serves 4)

1 bunch of spring onions sliced
Frylight to fry off the spring onions
14oz (400g) can of creamed sweetcorn
4 oz frozen sweetcorn (tinned is fine though)
    6oz cooked chicken meat
    1+1/4 pints of chicken stock
    1 egg, beaten

    Method:

    1. Fry spring onions for 30 seconds
    2. Add creamed and frozen sweetcorn, chicken and stock
    3. Bring to the boil, cover and simmer for 5 minutes
    4. Bring almost to the boil, add beaten egg slowly, while gently stirring soup to form egg threads
    5. Cook until the egg has set - do not boil

Syn free soup on EE, or could use chicken as a HexB on Green, and almost as good as chicken and sweetcorn soup from the Chinese! :D

If you like Carrot and Corriander soup but fancy something different, try Carrot, Orange and Ginger. Just add the zest and juice of an orange and the replace the amount of corriander with ground ginger or about an inch or so of fresh grated ginger.
