You think I don't notice you looking at me,
To you every pimple, wrinkle and dimple
Is "ugly".

But I say to you:
These things you detest are what make me unique,
A work of art, you can only critique?!
No praise, no pleasure, no passion at all,
Being criticised daily makes me feel rather small.

You say I am hopeless, you blame and you curse,
But thinking these things is just making me worse.
Each day that you criticise, hate and despise
The more that this hatred of me applies.

Just now and again there's an occasional glimmer,
Of light, when you think "one day I will be slimmer"
"And then, all of my problems will end"
You truly believe I'll no longer offend.

But caution, my friend, I feel I must tell,
That on trying to change me you should not dwell.

Just feed me the stuff that I need to survive,
Avoid all the junk on which you seem to thrive.
Stop telling yourself my appearance is "wrong"
I am the vehicle in which you belong!

Enjoy me, appreciate all I represent:
A miracle of creation, from Heaven sent.

Then maybe one day you'll begin to see
I am merely a body- its the YOU that is "me"!

if you need an explanation I am willing to provide, but hopefully it's self-explanatory and you will get it! Apologies as I am not a master poet, but watchin half tonne dad this evening led to me coming up with this and I thought I might share xx

Hiya guys, yeah HCM I have been doing a lot of thinking, and I gotta say, loving myself as I am and not dieting is surprisingly liberating (I couldnt resist hopping on the scales and have lost 2lbs by not dieting! How ironic?!).

Thanks Lacey, it just came to me and I thought others might benefit from it xx

That's excellent
