Gallstones

Have just been for my scan and the scan lady said I have several small gallstones and cysts on my liver (which she said are quite normal)... she said I need to see my doctor in 1 weeks time (I have tried to get an appointment but there aren't any for 3 weeks, ring back on Monday)....

I have suffered a lot of pain with these for the last fortnight but I never go to see my doctor in pain, I just kind of suffer in silence, so they dont really know how much I am suffering with it, I have had the ambulance out once for the pains in my chest but they said it was due to high blood pressure, I have also been to the walk in centre at night but they didn't know what the pain was. I have just had the indigestion type pain for around a week at a time, but always assumed it was indigestion (even though nothing worked to ease the pain) so never saw the doctor about it, I assumed it was my own fault because I had put all my weight back on and was fat again.

So what I really want to know is, will they just leave them because they dont think they are causing me any problems? Anyone had them? Anyone tell me what happens next?

Thank you.

I had them this time last year and had my gallbladder out. If you are having pains etc you need to have bloods done which will show them if you are having problems it will show up. It's important you watch your diet as high fat foods and acid things will increase the pain and set off the stones.

I did have my bloods done. Showed an abnormal liver result which I am assuming is because of the gallstones.

Hi, I had 'attacks' for about 3 months, they became more and more regular, and always in the small hours of the morning - trips to A&E for morphine at 4am not good. Luckily the last attack I had the specialist surgeon was due there in the morning so they kept me in. Had an ultrasound and had the damn thing whipped out the next time he was back at the hospital - he was on a 7 week rota. They gave me morphine to take home until then. Op was pretty much a breeze and no probs since at all. I sympathise, the attacks were the worse pain I have ever had and nothing but morphinw would touch the pain. Any questions you have I'd be happy to share my experience.

Wish you well

I had my gallbladder removed 4 weeks ago after suffering for 8 lonnnngggg months! My liver function tests were also raised because of the gallstones! If you are in pain keep on at them- they will have to do something for you! Worst pain ever! Hope you feel better soon!

After a 3 day stay in hospital from 5am Sunday morning, they are going to remove my gall bladder..... they have managed to put together a cocktail of pain relief and hopefully I wont end up in A&E again. They found in excess of 10 gallstones ranging from 5mm to 6mm in size, no wonder the flipping things hurt. So they reckon within 6 weeks...... apparently fasting does aggravate them too, so I haven't helped myself by doing JUDDD, so that is on hold for a while until after the op.

Sorry to hear you've been in pain and in and out of hospital Greeneyes, I'm glad they've finally listening to you and are going to take them out. It's interesting that fasting can aggravate them it's something we all should be aware of.

Wishing you an uneventful and speedy recovery :)

X
