    Some of us diabetics know this stuff. I mean, if it can help to keep existing diabetes under tight control ( most of the time ) then it stands to reason that it could prevent the onset of type 2 diabetes.

    I hate to ask this question cos I love Atkins but doesn't losing weight on any diet reduce the potential of diabetes ?

    Good question. The answer is that carbs are turned into sugar within the body. So, the most effective way to stave off/treat diabetes is to lower the carb intake. :)
