Hello all

I've been lurking around here for the past few weeks. I am starting at 296lb :( and have over 100lb to lose - I'm trying not to think about the exact amount I need to lose OR my goal weight yet as that often puts me off on diets. I'm just concentrating on losing 5% chunks of my weight at a time. I am doing Weight Watchers as I like how I can still fit treats into my day as I would be very sad indeed if I couldn't ha ha!

I wish I had the willpower to stick to a VLCD so the weight would fall off but I imagine I would get very hungry and would rob a Mc Donalds!

So, slowly slowly catchy monkey :)

Hello, fellow norn ironer. ;)

Slow and steady is the best way. It isn't glamorous or dramatic, but you've got a fighting chance of sticking with it and, even better, plenty of time to adjust the old brain ready for maintaining your new weight. It doesn't have to be total purgatory either!

Are you on the Hartley's sugarfree jelly bandwagon yet? My favourite flavour is orange and I'm currently demolishing 2 pints of it a day with strawberries and raspberries! Great stuff for the hot weather, and gives the old sweet tooth a (deceptive) thrill.

Best of luck - hang in there, the early days are the toughest. Soon you'll be in the swing of it and high on pound-shedding! :)
