    Exante + Protein + Weights!
I had this happen to me recently (not quite the same) as got invited to lunch by clients and was out all day. Questions would have been asked if I hadn't eaten all day.
I had a chicken salad and could hardly eat a thing with my stomach having shrunk. I ate about half a piece of chicken, 2 slices of bacon, a tomato and some lettuce! Didn't knock me out of ketosis and I've still lost just under 1.5 stones in 3 weeks.
So if you stick to protein you should be okay if you do decide to eat.
The other thing's I considered were not eating and saying that I had blood tests later in the day if anyone asked.

Gosh well done for getting an invite...
Well If you are determined not to eat, why not take a soup with you, maybe explain to the resteraunt or whatever that you are on a special diet and ask if there is anyway that you can have your soup in a bowl?
Maybe tell your bosses you have had a stomach bug and are eating very lightly... or impress them totally by telling them you are on a VLCD and making important changes in your life?
Whatever you do, have a great time... and good luck!

No S ing & sensible eating.
I've just had to deal with this. Last night I came back from 4 days away staying with new work colleagues in an hotel.
I am quite a private person and haven't told anyone apart from my immediate family that I am on CD. ( I don't like 'fuss'.) Large delicious meals were provided by the hotel at every meal, so this is what I did:- I got up leisurely, showered and had a tetra in my room. For lunch I chose cold meat and salad from the buffet and had a black coffee afterwards then for supper I ate a hot meal, tuna or salmon and just vegetables. The others were a friendly lot and noticed that I wasn't eating as much as them and I said lightly that I had to get into my 'posh frock' for my daughter's wedding soon.
It's true, but I would have been quite prepared to have told a white lie along the same lines if needs be.
No one mentioned it again, but were delighted to choose a starter and dessert for me which they then all shared!
In my room at the end of the day I made a coffee and ate a bar while doing the crossword in the paper and this morning I am under the 13st barrier!!!!! :)
One brilliant remark that someone made made me feel fantastic!! Remember that I didn't know any of these people and they had never seen me before. When I mentioned the wedding and the dress, someone said - " I don't know why you are bothering, you look slim enough to me." !!!!!!! You can all imagine how this felt I'm sure!! To find people viewed me as 'normal' ( I realise there are lots of people walking around who are about a stone or so overweight, ) was just fantastic!! ....And.....all the size 16 trousers that I had bought new on Monday now are too big and I need a belt!! Do I care about the waste of money? Not a bit!! :D
So go for it Enough, really enjoy your day with these people you admire - you'll be fine!!!

    Now I'm a little nervous!

Ok, so all the advice has involved eating food.. something I'll have not done in four weeks..

I was hoping for some amazing trick using mirrors or laser projection so that it looked like I was eating when I'm not!! Haha...

I def. don't have the courage to decline food or tell them, cause there'd be no legitimate point of being there (other than bare faced shame of being a self confessed schmoozer!! hahaha!)

So.. food it is.. but here are my fears:

-I'll love it sooooooooooo much that I'll accidently go on an eating frenzy and accidently devour the entire restaurant in a big glutanous rampage! Haha!

-I'll have a big shift in perspective and find it impossible to get back into CD straight away afterwards.

-I'll be knocked out of ketosis and have the hunger/headaches/constip/food obsessions I had in the first three days of getting into this thing..

-I'll get down on myself for breaking it and want to comfort eat

-I'll eat strangely (comedy visions of the cafe scene ?Harry met Sally? "I'll have what she's having"!! Hahaha!) be more interested in my food than the people around me, or vice versa, actually find the food not so delicious afterall! Either way, having some kind of socially inappropriate emotional responce to eating..

hmm.. I think they're the main fears.. oh, and finding myself telling people afterall, and then regretting it.

So, that's my list... now for my plan..

-re-read this list another time when I'm not thinking so intently about it, so that I can see things a bit more rationally.

-tell the people I need to. Get support from my CDC.. keep coming to minimins :D

-Have a VERY clear plan of the day

-Check out the menu in advance and plan what I'll have so it's inconspicuous but also fit with the CD+ as best as can...

    -Plan to debrief afterwards too.

Right! Phew - Any other suggestions guys??

    Thank you for you help!

    Vx

ps Julie - I'm spying on you, so you'd best stick to CD 100% !!! Hahahaha :D

LOL. Can't supply that here at the moment, though I can ask Pierce if he can find something along these lines:D

With all those fears below, as you really sure that's what you want? It's as easy to get around as you want it to be. You want to be there...no shame in that. A more confident person wouldn't bat an eyelid about not eating...and that's what you are aiming for.

Okay, so you know what might happen and that's half the battle. Just need to keep in mind how you want to feel the next day/month. Will you be glad you ate everything, or will you be proud of yourself for making better choices. It's up to you ;)
If you want to change your perspective, that is entirely up to you :D If you still want to get to goal, you can. It's your choice. Whatever you chose to do that mealtime doesn't mean that your choices are taken away after the event.
You'll have to see. It's a price you may have to take. It might not happen like that...who knows how your body will react, but if it's worth it to you to have that meal, then the price you need to pay will be worth it to you.
Aha. And that will make you feel loads better wont it. Scratch your leg and you'll feel so bad about it, you might aswell cut your whole leg off ;) You certainly don't need to feel bad about it. Eating isn't a moral issue, it's a self care one. You weigh up the pros and cons, you decide what you are going to do...what it's worth to you, and you stay happy with your decision.
Always remember that it's only food. Something that you will be able to have again and again after goal. This is a good time to start working on that (if you chose to eat).
And it's still worth it? :D
All good plans, though in the end it will just come down to whether you want to get to goal enough :) So simple really :D

And just to add, the further you get on (ie through the diet and into maintenance), the more you realise how little any of it has to do with the diet, and how much is to do with the head ;)

Yes! I see all of this as personal development on a psychological level.. My OH has such a balanced relationship with food.. it's another healthy thing to do.. like washing, preening, grooming.. it's not a substitute for love, it doesn't resolve lonliness, annoyance, or any other need for comfort.. it's simply a pleasant life sustaining part of the daily routine. Hunger for him is just a slight irritation.. for me, feeling hungry had become an indication of some kind of risk or emotional hurt.. Not sure when that happened, or why.. but it did.. and now it's time to mend that wound and feel less fragile again :)

    Thank You KD!

tomorrow's the day.. chef's providing a small piece of fresh steamed fish, and some undressed salad.. Im currently intregued about how it'll feel to have food again, but as it's one small meal and straight back on the CD, after four weeks, I feel I've made the right choice.. not an easy choice, but at 4 weeks, there used to be 'add a meal' at this stage anyway.. Clearly, I'm still feeling the need to justify my actions.. which suggests to me that I still have a long way to go in untangling my complicated relationship with eating.. but I'm taking the right moves in my psychological development with this one.. Thank you folks!!

I went to a leaving do a few days ago, I did eat, a mixed grill with salad, so basically protein (and fat) and drank loads of water.

I'm pleased to say, I've lost 5.5 pounds this week, the best for ages. So if you managing it well and go straight back on the diet you can still live an almost normal life :)

    warning - food refs..

Fantastic meeting.. director singing my praises, hob-nobbing with my heros, and all I ate was a load of rocket, a tomato and a tinsey bit of chicken... I'm having a week of SS+, then reviewing at the end of the week.. It was fab that I was invited to join them, and a sit down dinner in a restaurant without eating's great when you know the people, but I'm glad I planned this carefully, I'm glad with the decision I made, I'm glad that I don't feel compromised with continuing CD, I'm VERY unlikely to have come out of ketosis, and I'm particularly pleased with the self learning opportunity it provided, and with the wonderful support on minimins! :D

..If I'd not had you guys, things could have gone wrong for me at this stage!

    so Thank You!!

Well done you. It played on your mind a long time before the date but look how you managed it. Now when you get to your personal goal, you know you have the power and determination to stick at your goal weight WHATEVER and however difficult the situation.
I'm so pleased it went so very well in all respects, and probably mostly down to the new more confident and determined person you are becoming, I think as the weigh goes down, some of my confidence for me is certainly returning, yours must be too.
See how your new life starting and imagine how YOU are going to make it once you've finished this. If you can loose weight on CD, you can do anything.
