Am I pleased to have found this forum?! :) You guys are all brilliant! So, I've decided to return to the atkins "way of life" having done it roughly 5 years ago for about a year (relatively succussfully but started to gain weight due to lifestyle eg too much socialising and wine :0)

Anyhow, having had my 2 babies and pretty much lost all my baby weight ( I was 10.5 stone immediately after and am now just under 8st - I'm 5ft tall) through brain numbingly boring low fat methods I wanted to ask you experts a question which is worrying me. As I said, I am pretty much back to my pre-pregnancy weight but I'm worried that if I return to atkins, as I havent got much to loose will I gain? I know this probably sounds a bit weird!! In the past I havent had a great relationship with food so terrified of putting on weight - I just really want to maintain and enjoy eating pleasurable food rather than eating the bare minimum and counting every calorie/gram of fat......

Hope the above makes some sort of sense and that someone can advise. Congrats to everyone's losses - you are an inspiration :) xx

I think it is important to understand that Atkins is not just a weight loss scheme, but a healthier way to live. You shouldn't measure success only in weight lost.

I am a bit confused about your question. Since your weight reacted positively the last time and you didn't overeat (which I find quite difficult), why would you gain weight this time? Just because you weigh less now should not affect that. You may lose slower. I can't speak from personal experience, since I am not there yet.

Thanks both for your replies. Sorry if my question confused.... You have put my mind at rest (i think i still find it hard to get my head around the fact that you can eat all this yummy food and still loose/maintain your weight) so this evening I am going to tuck into a yummy omlette and think no more about it! :) x

Hi milleress, I agree about the maint phase, but I would also advise you to have alook at Low GI, Although I'm on Atkins maint, I often feel it's nearer low GI sometimes.
