As I was eating my blob of oatbran porridge this morning, I thought how nice it would be to have a drizzle of honey on it, as I used to do with my normal porridge.

Is honey ever allowed? I looked up on the website and he only has one recipe there with honey.

Not seen it as allowed anywhere so I would say no.

Don't do it! - honey is wonderful stuff, but pretty much pure fructose (fruit sugar) and glucose, two of the most easily digested (and therefore non-Dukan) sugars you could ever encounter.

Sorry - (I love honey too) but you'll have to back away from the hive!

NO honey - it's the same as sugar really. It's in a RECIPE IN THE BOOK? A Conso recipe MAYBE maybe maybe :confused::confused::eek:??

Porridge: add some sweetener and vanilla before you cook it... Or some cinnamon is nice too. Or I have plain/sweetened/vanilla yoghurt on top for a change.

OK, I looked into the recipe in more detail. The title of the recipe is VERY misleading:

"Toast slices with air-dried beef, goats cheese and honey"

Goats cheese? Honey?

But having looked at it, I see it's Dukan 'toast', Dukan 'goats cheese' (i.e. goats cheese flavouring whatever the heck that is) and 'honey' (i.e. drops of honey flavouring).

I hadn't translated from Dukan English to English English. It's like a whole new language I'm going to have to learn.

OK. I'll back away from the hive and let the bees do their thing without my interference.

Phew ;-) thanks for checking that for us!! another thing that annoys me about these recipes - much use of flavourings that are hard to get (that I'd rather not use in the first place) so I'm glad I didn't buy the recipe book... as frustration would have ensued no doubt. I already get annoyed enough at the French recipes that look great but then use the protein powder 'protifar' which is another thing that's not available to us (and not exactly freely available in France either I think)

That's the other side of the whole "Dukan change" debate of course. Some things have to be adjusted to take account of the fact that other markets don't have access to products like the above, or zero-fat cottage cheese etc.

Atropos I really love your understanding of all these sugars. It makes me feel as though I want you in my pocket:D when I am in Tesco looking at the ingredients in yoghurts!

I'll need to lose a lot more weight before anyone describes me as pocket sized!

Lovely thread!!

I bought a few flavourings and don't like any so will pass them onto Mouse when we next meet (VERY soon!) to see whether she likes them!

Protifar has to be ordered from a chemist and costs a fortune! Or online ordering from Belgium BUT a French online friend of mine swears by it as it's not "tolerated" and replaces cornflour in recipes. The unfortunate thing is that it's not the same quantity of profitar to cornflour when replacing, so it sounds rather hit and miss!

We can't get low fat cottage cheese.

BUT we can get 0% "Boursin" if any of you have tasted that. YUM! Also 6% grated cheese ;)

So each country its produce.

(I love honey.)

0% "Boursin"!!!!!!

I'm emigrating!

- Actually I catch the Eurostar on Saturday morning (yay!) at 7am (boo!), and will be watching France flash past the window for most of the day until I hit the coast.

Tan and Mouse have tasted it, cos I brought some over for them. Tan loves it, but I can't recall hearing what Mouse thought.

<MOUSE!!!???>

Jo's cheese is bloody lovely - I have been rationing myself - not having it every day - but when I do, just popping a cube in and letting it melt gently into my mouth!:eat::eat::eat:

I could have eaten the whole lot at once!

Oh and Jo I think it's pretty much like the quark from tesco in terms of texture so maybe we could make our own with some quark, herbs and garlic.

I shall have another look for that quarky stuff! grrr! Same Tesco, mind, but at least I've seen what it looks like now on the website.

I will bring you some then you don't need to waste your time, especially when you will be short of it. In the office tomorrow so won't be around during the day. Had a lovely half an hour in the hot tub this lunch time - just took the phone out with me!!
