How are the Uncle Bens Sweet and Sour rice pots free when the Uncle Bens Sweet and Sour sauce is not?

I really dont get it.

Can someone please try and explain?

I know there is less is 1 sauce in one if the ricepots but if the ricepots are free that means we can eat as many of them as we want, so why is the Uncle Bens Sween and Sour sauce in the jar got syns?

It really confuses me!

Thanks!:)

Rice is a free food, along with meat, potatoes, pasta, veg and everything else.

Sauce is not, it is 100% syns, 1 syn per 20 calories.

No because the Uncle Bens Sweet & Sour rice pots are free and that is boiled rice with sweet and sour sauce that has pinapple etc in.

So what im am trying to say is, why is the pot of sauce you get in the Uncle Bens Sweet & Sour rice pots free yet the Uncle Bens Sweet and Sour jars are not?

Thanks!

I suppose because the main ingredient is the rice, which qualifies the product for a free food allowance and reduces the syn values. It's not that the sauce on it's own is syn free but rather than when used along with the rice it benefits from that allowance.
