not allowed eggs, on SS+ for instance??

I seem to remember that in the induction phase in Atkins you're allowed eggs. Surely they don't contain that many carbs??

    Does anyone know??

Yeah my CDC said it's ok to have eggs just in moderation because one egg is medium egg is like 88cals, that quite alot for one egg!

    Thanks Stush.

Sometimes this confuses me with CD. I know it's VLCD but it's also down to not eating alot of carbs right?? On the atkins for instance you're allowed quite alot of calories as long as you stick to the very low carb things, and there are still great losses. I lost 10lbs in my first week of Atkins.

Anyway, not really a question as such, just me thinking out loud!! LOL

yeah you're right, its only carbs that will stop us being in ketosis and therefore ruin the diet pretty much, so in that sense if you eat like you're on atkins then you can't really go wrong good luck! :)

I think most people chose CD for the VLCD plan because it's an abstinence diet...as in no food ;)

If you go to the higher plans, they have been formulated to be nutritionally balanced. Eggs (though lubberly) are high fat, so would probably make the proportion of fat too high. After all, if it was just about carbs, you might as well have a couple of eggs and fry them in olive oil. Zilch carbs.

My advice for what it's worth, is stick to the book. Start adding your own little variations and you may find things go off course :(

Hi PenPen, you dont have to tell me about u being confused.
I've been the most confused I have ever been the last couple of weeks, like why cant i have a beef burger, steak, pork, prawns? Huh their all Protein, right?
But i think with Cambridge they put EVERY thing into consideration when they state the food that we are 'allowed' E.g Salt and fat in each product.

    How come u stopped Atkins?

I stopped Atkins because I started feeling very greasy. It was probably all in my head but my face got quite spotty and oily. I also dont tend to eat alot of meat or fatty stuff so it didn't really work in the end. Just lived on chicken, prawns and eggs.....

    :D

    Here here!

I have by no means been 100% (in the early days;)) good on CD, but have to say CD have put years of study etc into this for a reason.
I fell into the "why can't I have xy or z....its all protein" trap in the beginning....I called it 'Smat-arse-itis', few peanuts here, slice of cold meat there...it's all protein after all....well...ketosis was ok...but...weightloss slowed down and if you get away with it....you think you can keep doing it and it led to hunger and a couple of binges!
I'm not going to tell you not to do it....I'm going to say try it and see....but....if and when you have a low/no loss on the scales (or god forbid a gain:eek:)...you will realise.....go on then....I DARE YOU:rolleyes:

Stush: I am thinking something really funky a la Kat von D (not sure if you know her) but in dark brown me thinks....I do love ur name :D

Prettyface: I am not saying at all that I will go off SS and have whatever whenever, it was just a newbies question. Am doing my AAM next week so will stick to the list in the book but will probably sneak an egg or two in. I'll update you on the loss, hopefully not worse than last weeks ;)

You have to remember that this diet is not atkins and while it may be similar in that it also includes getting into ketosis, that is where the similarities end, as it is essentially a completely different diet, for example Atkins encourages fat in the diet, cambridge excludes it. Some meat is high in fat and cholesterol which are restricted on cambridge.

Its not the answer but its part of the reason why you are not allowed certain things, I mean I was surprised when only white fish was allowed on AAMW as I am a salmon lover, but you cant have that until you move well up the programmes.
