I'm just figuring out the best way to spread my calories through the day.

I have 1550 a day and was thinking 700 for tea does this sound reasonable? Although I have no idea what meals you can do for 700 cals.

I had a massive fail today so I'm trying to get myself sorted I need to succeed in losing weight.

That's about what I do normally. About 250 for breakfast. Same again lunch then 700 for tea and a couple hundred for fruite etc during the day.

Seems to work best for me having a lot at tea time as it fills me right up and stops me from picking all night.

Obviously some days my tea is a lot less than that but then I tend to have a supper too. Usually banana and a milky coffee.

I have started to adjust my lunch and dinner cals as I was getting quite hungry about 4 o'clock and eating the wrong things - now doing a hundred more at lunch time, maybe have soup then what I usually have for lunch.
Seemed to have quite a few left at 7pm and was eating to finish my quota so moved them to lunch time.

Hiya. I'm kind of maintaining, but still eating at a deficit to just get a bit further into the healthy BMI band. My maintenance level according to MFP is 1,700. In the week I eat around 1,300-1,400, but at a more maintenance level at the weekend, so my weight just nudges down a little bit! :) xx

I really will have to look at MFP properly - seem to think i joined it once upon a time. According to my RC Book my BMR will be just over 1200 a day when I get this stone off which I struggle to keep to some days - I started RC class last week and have 1200 for 2 weeks then 1400 for 2 weeks then it looks like back to 1200 after that. Will go over now and look at MFP.
    Thanks for the reply.

That can't be right for your BMR, can it? Sounds way too low! :) xx

Hopefully my weight would be 10st 5lbs and for my age and weight it says 1228. (I am far from young :) ) but am quite active - do 2 aerobics and 2 water aerobics classes a week plus lots of walking.
Just spent the last 20 mins on MFP and going to do that every day - easier to navigate than I thought it would be - thanks for the reminder.

When you say far from young, do you mind me asking how old? I'm almost 52 and completely sedentary, due to health problems, and my maintenance figure is currently 1,730. :) xx

Thank you! Calorie counting has really been the crux of it, though I did also take Orlistat on prescription for a while - not sure how much that helped physically, but mentally it helps keep you a bit more focused due to fear of side effects, lol. I do a bit of daily fasting, eating during a 10 hour window each day, and always eat late at night as that suits me best. I don't exercise due to health issues, so just strict dietary control really - sounds very boring, doesn't it?! I think, though, that what's made a huge difference this time, after 30 years of yo-yo dieting, is being an active member if this forum - it really has helped enormously and I'm a big fan! :) xx

    Hi Tracy,

Admin error with the above reply!

Do you think the fasting helped? I did some fasting for 3 weeks or so but it encouraged me to overeat.

Overall was it the consistent calorie counting that made it happen?

Did you take any time out? Weekends or holidays?

It was definitely the day in, day out calorie counting that was the main thing, using MFP. I did/do have occasional days off plan, but still always try to count the cals if possible, even if they come in at thousands, lol. Keeps me accountable. :) xx

Hiya! If you put your stats into a TDEE calculator it says around 1,500 with no exercise, and 1,700 with light exercise, so that would be a maintenance level. :) xx
