how much weight in 5 months???

please reply someone..........hi all im currently doin slim and save the vlcd. iam only on day 5 but already finding it hard not eating. esp as i cook from scratch everyday for my husband and 2 children.i was thinking of going over to atkins instead as i love meat and vegetable and really miss them. iam going on holiday in aug and really want to lose at least 4 stone.i know this is possible on the vlcd but how much do you think i would lose on atkins. i know it all depends on the person.i was also wondering if anyone does the original atkins that first came and if so what are the basic rules for that.i dnt remember eating veg whn it first came over here. please please help xxxx

Sorry I can't help you with the weight loss question but I too moved from Slim and Save to Atkins yesterday. I also have 2 kids and a fiance and found it so so hard not eating with them and in general missed food. I love not having to feel guilty when I eat. Also surprisingly I didn't do an inbetween binge, moved straight to Atkins and had low carb sausage and egg for breakfast yesterday - I just enjoyed the fact I could chew and it was lovely!

Hopefully someone will be able to answer how much you could lose in that time... Good luck whatever decision you make! x
 
It's pretty impossible to say how much you'll lose. Most people lose quickly in the first few weeks, but it varies. I lost around 4lb a week for the first few months on very low carb, others lose 2lb or 1lb.

A very low calorie diet is the best way to drop a lot of weight fast and some people need that speed to stay motivated- slower weightloss won't work for them as they get disheartened and give up. However, it's less healthy than eating real food, and when you do go back to food you're very prone to putting it all back on very quickly.

It's really a decision you have to make. It's a gamble that you'll hit 4 stone lost by August on low carb, versus a near certainty on VLCD, but you'll be healthier doing it and, if you follow a plan like Atkins, have a fighting chance of keeping it off. Good luck!

Since my wedding 3 weeks ago I put on 14lbs by carb binging, couldnt stop and was making myself ill, so I started Cambridge diet on Wednesday but had to give up 3 days later and 9lbs down, as think am allergic to one of the ingredients.... I also loved the Atkins so yesterday I swapped straight over and am down another 1.5lbs overnight....... It's brilliant! :)
 
I too moved from vlcd to Atkins. You wouldn't achieve the fast loss you get on vlcd but with Atkins, it'll be a steady loss and some do lose a lot in the first couple of weeks. I didn't lose a lot in my first two weeks as I came straight from CD which was expected but I love the feeling of having a meal and loosing weight at the same time. Hope it helps.
 
Tsweety I'm on slim and save ATM too and done 5 days and want to come to Atkins I'm fed up big time!!! I hate not eating I have no appetite and the thought of another shake is making me feel sick! I love meat and love eggs and veg and chicken and fish! Sounds perfect for me

Plus haven't had an amazing loss on s&s for some reason! Can't hack not being able to socialise with friends and my bf! Hate hate hate it! Lol

Looks like me you and Betty are made for Atkins! Lol

I would suggest that if you lost 2lb a week that is reasonable and in 2 months you have a stone off. You could also add to that your induction weight loss which is usually higher. So if you have a good induction you could be a stone and half lighter in just 6 weeks . That's my plan anyway! I have a 6 week target and want to aim for that weight loss , we will see! I have been yo yo dieting for years and now it's just not that easy to drop the lbs! :(
 
Could not agree more Emma! Hated the fact I could not enjoy meals with kids and my fiancé, so I decided sod it, so what if it takes a bit longer to get to my goal, at least I will enjoy it more - don't have to worry about falling off the wagon every time I put an extra bit in my mouth etc.

Amazing will power people who can do it, but I can't and don't want to be one of them, I love my food too much xxx
