 Well, there went my cycling tour.....

Early this morning I had some strange fluttering/racing heartbeats, but I didn't think much of it and it disappeared, so at lunchtime I set off on my 10 mile cycling tour. I managed about two miles, then my heartbeat went funny again. I had to quickly abandon my tour plans and pushed the bike back home. By then I felt sick, dizzy and weak. Managed to get into my bathroom where I pretty much just collapsed on the floor. Ambulance was called - heart rate 190 (!) beats per minute, blood pressure 75/40. I normally have got high blood pressure and have been on medication for this for more than 1.5years. Congratulations! This whole thing went on for about two hours, I really thought "this is it now".
Well, back home now with a diagnosis of supraventricular tachycardia - yep, quite a mouthful :sigh: And will need further investigation.
Still feel like cr*p.
I guess, maybe my much improved diet and exercise regime has such a beneficial effect on my blood pressure that my meds need reviewing? ;) Probably just wishful thinking. But hey, you never know.
Hope you all had a more pleasant Sunday.
Jill xx

Thank you so much for wishing well. It was really scary. And of course, I had my mum on the phone, claiming it is all the fault of my new "diet". :jelous: Bless her, I know she was just scared for her (38 yr old) baby :) And being so far away doesn't help either, I guess. They took blood for testing and all the findings were fine, certainly an improvement as my last test at my GP before I started SW was nowhere near as good.
I am in bed now with a big mug of rosehip tea. Best place for me tonight.

Certainly sounds very scary! Reminded me when for no reason my heart started fluttering/palpitations and lasted for 2 hours (have had it before but only lasted 5 seconds max). Got my hubby to take me to GEMS where I was just told my heart sounded fine and that it can be quite common and perfectly normal for someone of my age (was 28). But I can honestly say, it was up there for really scary moments in my life, so I do feel for you. Hope you are ok xx

That must have been terrifying for you.

I think if it is a straightforward tachycardia it will be a case of popping one pill a day.......I could be so wrong.

Fingers crossed for you Jill that it is just a one off incident

hugs xxxxxxxx

A big thank you to you all for your lovely and supportive replies :hug99:

I could not really stop at home today as this was my first day of my last ever student placement - calling in sick was just not an option.
However, the team is absolutely fab and enabled be to take it really slow today.
I feel a lot better, but I still feel a little weak, I think it's because of the major fright I got. Will see my GP on Friday and I guess she will refer me on.
Again, thank you all so much, Jill xx
