How To Measure Waist?

Hi Ladies

Ok, how do I measure my waist, the bottom part of my stomach is bigger than the top but all the websites i've looked at says measure the smallest part of waist, surely that isn't right?

When having a work-related medical a few years ago, I was informed that they would measure in line with my belly-button for a waist measurement, which was horrifying for me as it was the WIDEST part of my tummy and I was much narrower above my belly-button!!!

Under my belly button is the biggest for me, you'd think it would be the widest part to measure, so you know for def that the item fits (clothes) if you measure belly button but lower is bigger how would you get an accurate result? lool

When I used to have a proper waist (before I had children ) it was around my bellybutton, so that's where I'd measure now, even though it is the widest part
