I've never read the book! I rely on stickies and Google, and I don't think there is anything I don't understand! Good luck with the diet, and welcome :)

There is loads of stuff on the internet but the The Atkins Diet is based on high protein and low carbohydrate intakes. When the body is deprived of carbs, it goes into ketosis. This is a process where the body uses fat deposits instead of glucose for energy. This in turn leads to weight loss
