i know i am in the wrong but i cant seem to help myself, especially since i am now doing this plan 100% since 10 days ago......
i weigh myself every morning . now this , in itself is not the problem as 90% of the time i am impressed with what i see which spurs me on and usually if there is a small loss it would encourage me to make sure i stay on track.
however, last week i lost 6lbs which was the first week ever that i have been 100% and averaged between half and 1 pound a day and this week has been a very different matter indeed.
so far, from wednesday until today i have only lost 1 and a half pounds which is very disappointing when i am still being 100% to the book. no extras whatsoever.
i was told by my cdc last week that her customers who have nothing but tetras always have lower weight losses. i have had tetras only for the last 5 weeks. could this be why my losses have slowed suddenly?
could it be that because i am sooooo big (over 10 stones to go until goal) and i have been doing 100% ss that my body is holding onto it in fear of starvation?
or am i simply listening to the sabotage demon in me who somehow convinces me that eating something is a good idea?
i could just cry right now.
ive felt so proud that im finally managing to do this 100%, for the first time in 3 attempts at cd, each lasting over 3 months, but this week i am feeling like someone very rudely burst my bubble.
i honestly wish i could NOT weigh every day but i sincerely think i am addicted to weighing. :sigh:

i weigh on a wednesday, been 100% and my scales are currently saying ive gained a 1lb.
its just a number, bodys do the strangest things, some folks sts for several days before having a big drop just before weigh in day
i weigh everyday so that im accountable for what has gone in my mouth insted of hoping it wont show at weigh in
its just a number, we both know were doing everything in our power to get those numbers to change and we know they will change

Hey 1.5 since wednesday could be 3 by next wednesday and that's not to be scoffed at. You're doing brilliantly well sticking 100%. You will get weeks where you lose less than others even though you've not done any thing different. Don't listern to those Demons and stick with and you will get where you want to be. ;) xxx

    Right. (Lily rolls up sleeves...)

Scales are stupid. Stoooopid, you hear me? They don't know what they're talking about. You see, they're so stupid that all they know is what you weigh at a particular point in time. They don't know that you just drank a litre of water and haven't had a wee yet, all they know is that you weigh 2 pounds more than you did before you drank the water. They're thick, I tell you. Amoeba-like - in fact, that's an insult to amoebas and I apologise to amoebas everywhere. :D

Whatever the scales say, so long as you are doing the diet 100%, you will be losing fat. Depending on what you currently weigh, you will be losing between 2 and 4 pounds of fat a week (maybe even slightly more).

Unfortunately, your body doesn't like that you're losing weight so quickly. It makes it upset. In order to control your blood pressure and balance your blood sugar levels and make all your internal organs do their job, it actually likes things to stay the same. It can't do much about the fact that you're losing fat - but it can hang on to more of the water that you're putting into it. In fact, there is a theory that as your fat cells shrink, they initially fill up with water instead - just in case you change your mind about losing weight and it needs to use them in a hurry to store fat. Once your body is convinced that you don't need that fat cells, it'll let the water go, and let the fat cells shrink permanently (woohoo!).

That's why you can sometimes stay the same weight for days on end even when doing the diet 100% (my personal record is 6 days) without seeing a shift at the scales. But then, magically on day 7, you might see a 2 pound drop. And then another one pound drop the following day. :D

Keep the faith Cheryl - I promise you faithfully that you are losing fat, no matter what the scales say - and that over time, the scales will catch on and tell you that you are!

Sorry, but I think that's rubbish. It can't possibly be true. 3 tetras a day gives you an intake of around 420 calories a day. I'd love to see some evidence to back that up. It's more likely that people who have nothing but tetras are likely to get bored and do more secret cheating than her other clients. I'm not saying that's the case, but I'm pretty sure if having 3 tetras a day really was detrimental to weight loss that Cambridge themselves would say you should only have one tetra a day (like the bars).

Your metabolism will have slowed a little - but it would've done, no matter which diet you chose. Not enough to make a huge difference on a week to week basis. That's not it. The reason why Cambridge products have a high amount of protein in them is to ward off the whole 'going into starvation mode' thing. Starvation mode is all about cannibalising your own muscle mass (which is actually protein) to provide fuel for your body. The protein in the shakes should be sufficient to stop your body from needing to do that - that's why you need to have 3 shakes a day.

Aw :hug99: There's always a bit of that going on. Don't listen hun!

Cry if you need to. Sometimes it actually helps release some of the tension you feel.

As for the weighing thing - actually, there's no problem with weighing every day, so long as you can view the whole thing as a bit of a science experiment. Scales are a very crude measuring instrument. They can show you the general trend over the course of a month (up or down or stay-the-same), but they're not really at all accurate on a day to day basis. If you can remember that, you'll be fine.

Big big big hugs - and sorry for the mega long post!

You're doing brilliantly hun. Just keep going, and you WILL get there!!

    thanks for the replies ladies.
    i know ur right
i think the reason it has hit me so badly is partly because it is my youngest sons girlfriends birthday today and she is coming to stay over tonight and we have a surprise cake for her so ive been argueing with my innerself for the last few days. do i have cake, do i refrain?
i still dont know what to do to be honest.
on one side i am afraid to rock this 100% boat as i know from experience that i fall out of this boat very easily at the best of times  and on the other hand i want to be a part of the celebration. i know i dont need cake to celebrate but..... oh i dont know, im so at war with myself about it.
so with that and then the very minimal weight loss there was a certain amount of ' what the heck, eat the dam cake' in my head when i looked at the scales.
bleurgh, i just wish weight loss was as straight forward as weight gain.... eat food .. gain weight.... dont eat food.... lose weight.... if only

    Ouch-ee, I feel your cake pain. :hug99:

    We-ell...

Here's a strategy for if it all goes horribly wrong and you lose the battle with that irritating voice in your head telling you to eat the cake. It has been demonstrated that the first 2 bites of anything are actually the best. After that - it's just food. Nice, but nowhere near as nice as the first 2 bites.

So if you absolutely have to, have to, eat the cake - have two bites, and two bites only. Make them good bites - go for the yummiest part of the cake. :D And then stop!

Everybody wins. You have a little bit of cake, but nothing like enough to cause too much damage.

Alternatively - and probably this was the strategy I should've suggested first... :D Don't have the cake. Remind yourself that cake will still be there when you've lost some more weight and that you can have it then.

Either way - plan what you're going to do now. Make a decision now, so that it doesn't feel like a cheat - and then stick to your decision!

Lily is right scales do the weirdest things I could weigh every hour and the reading could be different. Why don't you make a mousse out of a shake pack and have that at cake time or a bar? Is it worth the five minutes of putting it in your mouth and coming out of ketosis. You will have to go through getting back in again. I am sure your family will understand if you don't partake in the cake. Half the battle of CD is overcoming the social side of eating rather than the act of giving your body food (good or bad). This is a life choice not a prison sentence focus on the weight loss. :D Good luck

OMG Lily - I think I love you!! I adore your posts and I've only read about 6 of them.....will you be my best friend please? LOL!!

Cheryl, when I'm not so tired, I'll share all my weekly weight losses with you throughout my LL journey of the 20 or so weeks. I was 100% totally throughout and I had some of the weirdest weight losses. Think I might have lost just a lb or two one week, but it all evens out eventually.

Don't eat the cake I say! It's only food and will be still be there when you are at your goal! It's such an amazing feeling to get there and feel like a completely different person. Big huge hugs!

i didnt do it . i cut the cake and served it up to everyone else. ( had a sniff of my sons but none whatsoever passed my lips).
i am feeling really proud of myself right now :D.
hopefully the scales will show me something for my effort tomorrow
poppy: i would love to see ur weight losses. it may be what i need to help me stick on track when i dont get the losses i deserve.
was so much easier when i wasnt doing this 100%. at least then i could shrug my shoulders and say ' oh well, thats what ya get for cheating'

You KNOW you need to stop with the daily weigh ins. A lot of people do them but unless you can ignore the results, which clearly you cant, then theyre a bad idea.

I tend to find I lose all my weight in one half of the week. I keep my scales at my mums. As a matter of interest cos Ive been over a few days this week I checked them. Thurs Id gained 1lb, Friday Id lost that but overall sts, last night I had lost 1 and this mornign - my official wi - Id lost 4

As a rule I weigh in once a week and thats it - get rid of your scales *HUGS*

    Okay, here goes:

    -10lb, - 5lb, -4lb, -2lb, -5lb, -5lb, -5lb, -4lb, -2lb, -5lb, -3lb, -3lb, -3lb, -5lb, -2lb, -4lb, -4lb, STAYED THE SAME!!, -3lb, -4lb, -5lb.

That last weight loss was the week I got to goal!!! I did nothing different ever, apart from stick to the foodpacks and drink the water and never went off plan once. So it goes to show, it will come off when it wants to!!

Hope this helps and just wanted to say well done you for not eating the cake!! A sniff does wonders sometimes! I'm so proud of you!

Well done for not tucking into the cake - brilliant. My CDC told me not to focus on weekly losses but always to look at the total i had lost (and to remember the 1 stone a month average and that anything above that was a bonus!).

Keep going - it will be worth it in the long run. There is a great sticky on the top here about being 100% and not worrying about what the scales say because even if its a great loss you can't be more than being 100% and vice versa. It really helped keep me going.

    thanks for the replies everyone.
poppy, ur weight losses are very interesting.
when i wasnt doing this 100% i didnt mind the scales fluctuating and even wasnt even too bothered when they showed a 4lbs gain at the beginning of the week after eating as i just knuckled down and worked hard to get rid of it before weigh in.
last week was my first week being 100% and i lost virtually 1lb a day so i guess i was just a little disheartened when that didnt happen again this week.
well, this morning (yep, i was back on the scales... i swear i really cant help it, they call to me every morning and if i dont get on them i spend the day wondering what the scales say' , well by the scales i have now lost 3lbs this week ( weigh in on wednesday ).
i can live with that :)

Well done cherylxx for resisting that cake you should be proud of how far you've come to do that!

I'm a daily weigher and find it helps me focus it doesn't matter what the scales say its just if I don't I go into denial mode eat and kid myself it doesn't matter. It's got to be what works for you.

Keep it up you're brill. ;)

I completely agree Rachele - I weigh every day - it doesn't make me hit the kitchen if it's not what I want to see. I find it interesting and it helps me learn what my body does - also, it's when I don't weigh every day that I go into denial and the weight creeps (or rushes!) on. I hardly ever weigh when I'm not focussed and then get a shock when I do get on. By weighing, I have to take responsibility.

Totally agree it's whatever works for you - if what you see makes you depressed, rebellious, etc, don't do it, but daily weighing works for some.

    Hey Cheryl,

Congrats on abstaining from the cake.

I have to admit to being a serial weigher too.I must weigh EVERY morning and at least a few times throughout the day,and last thing at night.I would hate to not weigh myself and then get on the scales and see i had not lost anything. At least if i know every every day i can prepare myself for the lack of -lbs on the scales.I guess its whatever works for each individual.

Keep up the great work x
