I Quit! No more pressure.

#1
Well, I'm having a stern talk with myself today. I keep aiming and focusing on getting to target by the time I go to the States at Christmas but realistically, it just ain't going to happen. I've got around 20lb to lose and only 12 weeks to do it.

Sooooooooo....I'm going to aim to lose a stone before I go home and then really focus when I get back on getting to my target - hopefully by Feb.

I just have to remember it's not a race and nothing 'magical' is going to happen when I get to target. I'm still going to have to stick with the eating plan! I'm just ready for the finish line - I've never actually gotten to target on a plan before (unless you count Lighterlife).

But I'm not doing myself any good by putting pressure on myself as it's been making me self sabatoge and want to binge which then stresses me because it's taking me further from my goal. So....deep breath and chill out and just keep doing what I'm doing. I'll get there eventually!

(sorry for the rant - just had to get things written down and out of my head!)

Good decision! I'm sure you'll relax and that the weight will come off no bother1

Stacey, you have done so well. You are still doing well.
I find that if I set myself a target, I never achieve it. This happened when I got married and towards the end after I realised that the weight doesnt come off as fluidly as I would like, it still happens.
You may not reach your target, BUT, you will still be lighter than when you started and you still will have achieved so much.

I'm not doing myself any good by putting pressure on myself as it's been making me self sabotage and want to binge which then stresses me because it's taking me further from my goal. So....deep breath and chill out and just keep doing what I'm doing. I'll get there eventually!

OMG!!!

That's *exactly* what I'm like if I set myself a target. Whenever I've tried to aim for a specific weight by a specific time, I never end up achieving it because I self sabotage and crave all the bad stuff.
I just have to keep plugging away at it. I even have issues every time there's an award coming up!!

You're doing the best thing by just keeping on with what you're doing.
It will all come off, in it's own time, and you'll be over the moon when it does.
Try and relax about the timing of it all hon, you're doing fabulously - keep it up xxxxx

I am in the same boat and like you I realized it wasn't going to come off by the date I wanted so I set a mini goal and am working towards that. Much less pressure and much less likely to wind up face down in a packet of yum yums!! LOL

See how far you have come and that is amazing!!! Well done honey

Excellent decision. I really think targets are destructive. If you meet them on time you simply 'tick a box' by doing what was expected, if you don't meet them you beat yourself up- neither of these feelings are helpful or inspiring.

Well done on having the courage to take it at your own pace and do it purely for yourself. This is the reason you have lost so much so far and WILL go on to get to (and keep) your target LONG TERM

A good sensible attitude and decision.
I won't even put my goal down in writing because it stresses me too much, I'm a plodder who prefers to celebrate each hard earned weight loss instead of always focusing on the next pound.

Good luck Stacey and I'll look forward to congratulating you when you get to target in 2010 xx

I think you are absolutely right to take the pressure off yourself. You are a total inspiration and a huge success, so it would be a shame to set yourself up for "failure". I'm sure everyone you meet in the States will be blown away by how beautiful you look.

Thank you ladies! You gals are such a wonderful support. I don't know what I'd do without you! I'm going to just get on with sticking to the plan, stop weighing myself at home and just get weighed once a week at class. This helps me to take the focus off the number and relax a bit!
