I have PCOS and I rarely have a period since I had a coil fitted (on advice of my Gyn). Before that I used to get really heavy ones but still only once every 6 months or so. Totally irregular and varying lengths - 2 days to 14 days of bleeding.

Now, since dropping some weight I've had a period every other week. 3 periods in 6 weeks. I'm only a stone down. Is it possible my hormones are getting a jog? They aren't heavy and last the average 3-5 days.

Anyone else have this problem of increased periods with weight loss?

hi fray, when you lose weight the hormone levels readjust esp oestrogen levels so you will start to have more regular irregular periods with pcos, (aslong as your coil hasnt expired usually its 5 yrs if its mirena coil) youl find the symptoms of pcos lessen the more weight you loose as its all linked to insulin resistance oestrogen levels etc,
other causes of irregular periods are infection or thyroid problems so pop into your gps and get it all checked out before believing its all down to the diet, hope this helps xxx
