from my book i thought that you couldn't fry onions without having to syn them. however i've been hunting for recipes on the web and loads of them use fried onions but say they are syn free... does anyone know?

have you tried poaching eggs? they work better if they are fresh. just get a frying pan of water and heat til it simmers, spin the water round in a circle and then add your egg(s) - cook as required. completely fat free and tastes as nice x
