try to stick to a tomato based sauce like pomodoro or arrabiata if on a green day( don't know about meat as i don't eat it) . Never know the syns as some are fresh pasta and are cooked in oil too. Good luck

You could lower your syns if you choose a tomato based sauce as the olive oil used in it can count (somewhat) towards a HEb. Save your HEs through the day for the meal.

[IMG]Food Optimising means there are loads of tasty options at your average Italian restaurant so you can still have a pizza the action!
A great starter is antipasto. This is a selection of Italian meats such as Parma ham (½ Syn per 28g on Original), olives (7 olives are 1 Syn), mozzarella (42g is a Healthy extra ‘b’ choice), with accompanying vegetables such as artichokes, sun dried tomatoes (28g is 1½ Syns) or salad leaves. Watch out for items that may have been soaked in olive oil. If you want to save Syns but still have a bread fix, there are usually breadsticks (1 Syn each) in the centre of the table.
Minestrone soup is another tasty and filling starter at 6½ Syns on Original and Green for an average portion.
Pasta dishes are fantastic options for a Green day. Any pasta that has ‘al Pomodoro’ in its name is a good choice because it’s in a tomato and basil sauce, which is lower in Syns than the creamy sauces such as carbonara (average tagliatelle carbonara portion is 12½ Syns on Green and 15 Syns on Original). An average portion of vegetable cannelloni is 9½ Syns on Green and 17 Syns on Original, or spaghetti Bolognese is another fab option at 7½ Syns on Green and only 10 Syns on Original.
There are tons of Original options in an Italian restaurant too. With great steak dishes to choose from and delicious veal escalopes (Free when not in breadcrumbs) and tasty vegetables such as courgettes, tomatoes and peppers you can easily have a piled-high plate for Free! There are usually plenty of chicken dishes available too such as Chicken Cacciatore (average portion 8½ Syns on Original, 28½ Syns on Green) or chicken wrapped in Parma ham.
