In the past couple of weeks I have had two important essays to write for my university course, and have not been on the plan at all. I have just let myself have whatever's been convenient, and haven't cooked at all to save time. I just studied constantly.

Well I handed the essays in last week, and just stepped on the scales at home and am shocked. I had lost 10lbs, but now I seem to have put about half of it on again.

I am kicking myself, but I can't say I'm surprised. My class is at 7pm tonight and I don't know whether to go until I've lost some of it this week, but I am probably being charged for these weeks I'm missing and should probably go.

How do I motivate myself after this? I think by sticking to it 100% again and stepping up the exercise I could get rid of what I've put on quickly, but I just feel disheartened.

Has anyone slipped up like this before? How did you stop beating yourself up? Thanks.

Hun, I think ALL of us have slipped up like this, but tonight is the night you need to go, much more than on the good nights
Go tonight, draw your line and start again. If you dont you will put off going next week too and the week after, and before you know it all 10lbs will be back and have brought a friend or two with them xx

Hi Oscaria....i been there, and got the t-shirt, in about 3 different designs, and 5 different colours!!

It is soooo hard to just give it all up, but however you feel now, 2 weeks, 5 weeks, 3 months down the line you will feel even worse...Trust Me!!

The only advice I can give you, is to go to weigh-in...take whatever the scales say and just put it behind you and carry on regardless. You know exactly why and how you have managed to gain, and use it as a learning curb....the next time you have a lot of studying to do...prepare on the run up to it!! Batch cook loads of stuff, so you can just shove it in the microwave.

Honestly luv, you will feel better in time....but if you dont get back on track....you'll feel worse in the long run and will want to kick yourself twice as hard.

My old Consultant once told me a story....

"If you had 7 beautiful red roses, and one died, you would just throw the dead one away, and continue to enjoy the 6 remaining beautiful ones." Hence, just because you have 1 bad day, or bad week, just make sure that you make the remaining week, or month, as best as you possibly can.

You will easily get it all back off again if you concentrate, but if you dont go to class, it will be sooo much easier to gain even more!!

It happens to all of us hun
However hard it is, go to the class and then start again. You know it works, so will work again (if it goes on quick, it normally comes off quick cause some of it may be water retention as eating foods no longer used to)
Try not to get too down bout it (least its only a few pound) x

I never thought of it like that before. Thank you. Yes, that's what I'm afraid of. I think that if I let this defeat me, then it will just get harder and harder.

My student loan still isn't in, which should have arrived at the start of September, so going to the uni gym on a pay-as-you-go basis has been expensive. I have just asked my parents to pay for my gym membership for the year so I can go as often as I like, because I think the infrequency of my exercise is a reason why my weight loss has been so slow.

I am convinced that if I blitzed this week, I will kick-start it again.

I know this sounds like a load of excuses but it really has been a pain and I absolutely want to do this properly.

Maybe it's the horrible dark weather making me feel even worse! :eek:

How much will I be charged this week? I think I have missed the last two weeks. Does that mean I'll have to pay £15 tonight? xx

Dont worry yourself about the gain Oscaria. Go to your class and as the girls have said you can make a fresh start. No one here is perfect and we all have bad days and weeks when we gain or dont loose. Its a perfect opportunity for you to face up to the gain and turn it around to a loss in the next few weeks.
We all feel we have failed because we have gained but you have very good reason for your gain - you were ultra busy with your essays. By going to the class you are acknowledging you have gained and learn from the experience.

Best of luck with your weigh in (it might not be as bad as you think - fingers crossed)

You could ask for them as holidays......?? then you would just pay tonight charge.

Good luck - going back you can have a figure to start from and it wont be as bad as you think. It never is!

Thanks. It's just I had set myself a target of 2lbs a week, which I didn't think sounded too difficult, so I'm annoyed that I've even messed that up. But maybe I shouldn't set a target and just focus on actually sticking to it, lol.


You could ask for them as holidays......?? then you would just pay tonight charge.

Stop being annoyed with yourself. Your human and make mistakes and thats all this is. But you've realised and you can no go forward in your goal
Maybe aim for 'a loss every week' rather than a set amount

On 24th October our group leader (?) was in a car crash so we weren't charged for that week and were sent home without weighing in. I weighed myself at home instead and it said I'd lost 3lbs, so that was 10lbs in total. I weighed in tonight and it said I'd gained 6lbs since the 24th, but 3lbs since the last 'official' weigh-in. But I don't know how accurate my scales are ...

The woman was really annoyed with me :confused: I told her I'd missed the last weeks and she wouldn't give me them as holidays. Then when I weighed-in I said "I was expecting that anyway", and she said "Well, as long as you're happy with it :rolleyes:," and I tried to explain that I wasn't happy with it but she started talking to someone else. Then she said "Oh that's a shame, you were doing so well" and walked off.

She made me feel like I didn't care about my weight loss, and instead of being encouraging or saying 'well done for coming back' she just seemed like "it's your fault, not my problem."

I was so annoyed that I just left, she made me feel even worse about myself. I will be at the gym tomorrow to stick it to her.

Is she weighing you next week? I would aim to have a really really good week to show her! She is being really rude and unsupportive, you pay your money to have help and have some support. Good luck this week you can do it. X

I think that's disgusting that she spoke to you like that, that could have easily put someone off going again so well done for not letting her get to you!!! I must admit I've not been very happy with my C lately......when I initially joined it was as if I was an inconvenience as he was busy but then he seemed to be pleasant enough. I then took a friend with me who wanted to join and the difference in how he treats her is unbelievable, can't do enough for her and practically pushed me out the way to speak to her last week!!! I had to laugh but can't say I'm overly impressed and heard a few others are feeling the same however gonna stick with it as I like being weighed on a Wednesday as it's mid week :)

Stick with it Oscaria, I can guarantee you'll be so chuffed with yourself for going back once you start shedding the pounds again :) Xxxxxx

Some consultants Ive encountered are like Jackyl and Hyde. They will ve so rude and dont wanna talk to you while weighing in etc, but then in the actual class they are as nice as pie. I just think its all an act with some of them and they dont give a monkeys really. I had one leader who was really genuine and seemed really interested, unfortunately shes not in my area anymore.

Well done for going back to group and getting back on with plan. Dont worry about anyone elses attitude and focus 100% on yourself, do this for you and no one else. I would personally contact the consultant and tell them how you feel and that their attitude is putting you off going back. I think this might make them think.

Your leader sounds like a pig. Just my opinion. Prove her wrong, and if she still seems unsupportive (let's say she was having a bad day, to be kind) check out other groups nearby, they may well have a different leader.

Good luck. I think, as has been said previously, that the main thing is that you have got up again after a fall and got back on. That deserves some credit, so well done you!!! X

I agree, your C sounds really rude. Mine is good in general, she texts twice a week asking if she can help with anything but the other day I text her to ask how many syns were in somethings and just got "I don't know". Was a bit peed off because if someone asks me something at work and I don't know the answer I'd say " I don't know but I'll find out and get back to you". At the end of the day, I appreciate they can't know everything and they get a lot of people asking for things, but it's what they're paid for.
But well done on going back and starting again. Draw that line and show her just how well you can do!!!!

Thanks for all your responses. I didn't want to stay because I didn't want to discuss my gain with other people, especially not my consultant after how she spoke to me.

I may just go to get weighed and leave as it takes ages for the class to get going and some people really ramble on. The class is in the building next door to my flat, so it couldn't be more convenient, and others in my area are further away and during the week when I have uni.

I'm going to the gym tonight. I feel very down because of the weather and I hope it'll help me feel less stressed.

Plus, imagine if I go back on Monday and have a brilliant loss and she says "Well done for getting back on track", then I can say "No thanks to you!"

Your consultant was following the rules about not being able to let you take those weeks as holiday - you have to book holiday in advance.

However, she wasn't right in behaving the way she did when you weighed in - is there another group with a better consultant nearby? Never feel bad about changing group if the consultant doesn't help you - otherwise you're wasting your money and not giving yourself the best chance to get those great weight losses SW can give.
