Hi everyone, Yesteday i tested for ketones after lunch and my stick showed no trace. Well this morning, it was v pink first thing so they are back. Just wanted to give hope to other people who test, as I think if you drink lots of water by lunch time the ketones dont always show up so dont be disheartened as i was.

Anyway, feeling lots better today, trying to be positive for bank hol.

My rather unhelpful reply to your post yesterday (sorry :() set me thinking about ketosis.

The thing is, ketones will spill into the urine ONLY when there is more in the blood than is being used as fuel by the body at that particular moment. If you've exercised or worked a few hours previously, your muscles would have used up the ketones as fuel, thus there will be no excess--so there'll be nothing to show on the stick. And as you already know, if you've had a lot of liquids to drink, your urine is more diluted so again, ketones may not show up.

So you can be in ketosis (in fact, you'll almost certainly be in ketosis if you're following CD to the letter!) even if it doesn't show up on the stick. :)

Lily, thanks for your information. I have been wondering why my ketostix don't seem to register anything even though I have not had anything I shouldn't. I have been doing more exercise and I walk over 15,000 steps a day, so maybe I'm using up those ketones. Thanks again:)
